Backwards compatibility question

I bought an Xbox one as soon as it came out and at the time there were no plans for backward compatibility. I used to have all of the gears of war games and all of the mass effect games but when I try to download them they are not free. I guess I don't
understand how this works only the people who held onto their xbox 360 or waited to buy an xbox one get to have a game they already owned free? Or am I missing something?

Question about backwards compatibility I get my xbox one Xbox Live through another account because its home Xbox is my xbox, thus I get xbox live. Will I still have the xbox live on the 360 emulator when I use backwards compatibility?

This is a great question! To answer your question any game listed on the Backwards compatible list will work on the xbox one you can find that list here

www.xbox.com/.../backward-compatibility In your situation you have to have the exact game on that list your best bet is to reach out to the game developer and let them know you want it backwards compatible. They don't know unless people like you tell them.

If you owned the digital download version of the games u had for the xbox360 you should be able to download them to your xbox one for free and also if they're on the backwards compatibilty list..If you only had these games on disc then unfortunately you
will physically need the xbox360 disc for these games to work via backwards compatibilty..Hope I've explained myself well enough for you..
