Backwards Compatibility: Payment Method not working, can't buy any Xbox 360 games?

I will try my best to explain what has been happening for about 4 days now.

I have an Xbox One, the only Xbox I have ever owned. I heard the announcement that Fallout: New Vegas was now backwards compatible. I literally ran downstairs, went to the Store on my Xbox and found the game.

Obviously, this game is an Xbox 360 game, but I thought there would be no issue because its being promoted on the Xbox homepage. I selected the game, but instead of a price, a button said "Show Price". I clicked that button, and a window came up saying I
have "No Valid Payment Options on File". I knew that I did have a credit card because I had boughten some DLC a couple months ago. Weird. So on the window I selected "Change Payment Option" like it wanted me to. I was taken to Microsoft Edge, where it opened
the xbox.com site. It was a window with billing information to enter. However, the country was already selected to USA, with no drop down menu. I live in Canada. I entered all my info anyways, but still received an error.

So, I went to my computer and removed the valid credit card and replaced it with a different credit card. Went back, same thing happened. Got frustrated and bought a $50 gift card the next day. Applied the gift card thinking it would work. Still nothing.

I restarted my Xbox, and after 3 days of nothing more, I contacted Xbox Support. The rep kept telling me it was weird that I was unable to buy it, as he could see my valid payment options on file. He asked if I could buy it on my Xbox 360, but I do not have
one. He basically said there was nothing else I could do, and told me to contact Bethesda Softworks (???)

Even when i went on Xbox.com to buy the game online (as others said would work) I am still greeted with "No Valid Payment Option".

Lastly, I checked to see if I could buy a specific Xbox One game, just to try. It appears I can buy an Xbox One game, but not a compatible Xbox 360 game.

I am so confused as to why this is happening and what would solve this problem! The internet is giving me nothing, this doesn't appear to be happening to anybody else right now.

Microsoft currency can't buy 360 games

you can only on the 360 or with a credit card on the website

You never been able.tl buy backwards compatibility titles without a console or a payment method

 

Xbox One X Enhanced Titles

Maybe some games give you the full MIP maps even if you are on a standard console and just never use the highest resolution one (or only do so if you are right in front of it).

It's because your payment option must match your account location

From the sounds of it you selected the us on your console

This affects your account region when it's first setup

It is not a drop down box as it's not something you can change on the fly

Xbox 360 games are region specific

You must goto my account and change my region on this website

 

Entering the Canadian creditcard on commerce.microsoft.com.wont work if your account region is us but your payment option is canadian

That's why the account region must be changed

hi, im dealing with the same issue as the writer of the post, but im from israel.

i have seen the suggested solution regarding the country my account is registered in and that it needs to pair with same as my billing account, and it is.

im registered in israel in my Microsoft/XB1 account, and my registered visa and paypal also israeli.

plaese help to find a solution friends,

Solved. it was indeed the difference between the regions registered in microsoft and xbox acoounts.
