    Backwards Compatibility Help Needed

I'm an owner of an Xbox 360 slim, yet I still love going back to the classics. Xbox 360s are supposed to be backwards compatible with certain original Xbox games. One such game on the list is "Whacked!", a personal favorite of mine. I had just bought a copy
of the disk, but when I put it in, I got a Game error "The game couldn't start. Try downloading the game again." I have tried it with multiple other games such as Spider-Man, Spider-Man 2, Grabbed by the Goulies, even Halo 2; all of these games listed as backwards
compatible for Xbox 360. I have an Xbox 360 Slim and an 80GB Xbox 360 Slim Hard Drive and have the current Updates according to Xbox Live. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    :)

Yeah I know, total rant. Can't help it. I needed to rant.

Yes I agree. Full backwards compatibility is crucial. I don't think that will be a problem for them.

there is no such thing as a 80 gig drive for the slim you have a bootleg drive and 9 times out of 10 they do not have the emulation file needed to play the game. only drives for slims are 250 and 320 gig.

I'm not sure about that. I also have tried using the Hard Drive that came with my Xbox 360 Slim

Okay, so I've used my 20GB hard drive and updated. Halo 2 works fine, yet none of my other Xbox Originals are working. Is there anything I can do to fix this?

You need to buy an official microsoft hard drive for the 360s.As dave said, they either come in a 250gb or 320gb models.

Avoid places like ebay or amazon as they are usually very clever fakes.

Best bet would be to buy from a trusted gaming retailer

    retrocompatibilidade [Translation-Backward compatibility]

    Hi Ailton,

Based on the list found on Major Nelson's blog, Injustice: Gods Among Us is a backwards compatible game and the Ultimate edition is backwards compatible only with disc.

Here you can find the full list plus all the information you need regarding backwards compatible on the Xbox One:

    https://majornelson.com/blog/xbox-one-backward-compatibility/
. Injustice is on page 6.

    I hope this helps!

Hey there, unfortunately I don't think you would be able to play a 360 disc game on the all digital edition xbox. In order to play 360 games you need to be able to insert the disc everytime you want to play.

If you had the game in a digital version though then you would be able to play it on the all digital xbox. Unfortunately this means you likely won't be able to play your 360 games on disc, but if you end up getting a digital version then you would be able
    to play them.

    Hi Buddy..

    Xbox One Digital System..

I'm sorry to say.. there is no way to play the disc..

    black ops 2:

Its best to buy the digital game version.. This way you can play the game.

    https://marketplace.xbox.com/en-US/...I/66acd000-77fe-1000-9115-d802415608c3?Page=2

Re-sell the disc game om a marketplace like:

    Mercari.com

Buy a new game system with the disc option

and give the Xbox One Digital System to a little brother or sister or have it as a secondary xbox.

Since you like older disc games it time for you to upgrade to:

XBox One s with disc on sale for $299

    Need help with backwards compatibility

    Hello Cory!

Thank you for posting on Xbox Forums! I will be happy to help you today. As many of our Ambassador's have previously stated, in order to play an Xbox 360 game on the Xbox One, it will have to be on the

    Backwards Compatible List
. If it's not on the list, then it's not Backwards Compatible, yet. However, Xbox and Microsoft are continually adding more and more Xbox 360 and Xbox original games to the Backwards Compatible catalog every few months or so. The
games we add depend on the whether the developers will make those games available to us for backwards compatibility. Additionally, as some of the Ambassador's also mentioned.

If you have achievements for games it doesn't necessarily mean that you have the digital version of the game that can transfer over to the Xbox One. In some cases, you might've had a disc version of the game. As stated before, as long as the game is
on the list you should be able to play it, either if you own it digitally or if you have a disc copy.

if you have any further questions, please feel free to reply back. Thank you again, for posting on Xbox Forums!

    Need help with backwards compatibility

While there are a bunch of games that are backwards compatible and a lot of them becoming as such every month, the problem may be the format in which you have had the game and not necessarily the license and listings in the store.

If you go check the list on Xbox.com and the game you have played is on there but not showing up, then you have either had that game on disc or it was delisted from the store/download. A complete delisting is rare, normally it just affects the ability to
buy it and you'd be able to still download if you've had it on DIGITAL before. Just because you played a game at one point in time on a disc, it doesn't mean its just given to you on the Xbox One.

You'll just have to go through and check all the listings.
