  1. Backwards Compatibility Dilemma

So you either need a disc or have downloaded a game digitally... So what happens if you traded in all your 360 games with your console prior to purchasing an Xbox One? Does this mean unless you kept your 360 discs you can't actually play any 360 games and
must purchase them from the market place or local retailers?!

What if you had gamertag name changes? Apart from my achievements carrying over as proof, I lost many multiplayer statistics due to this and I get the feeling I'm going to have trouble proving I owned games because I changed my gamertag for $10 when I first
    started using the Xbox One...

    :)

    Backwards Compatibility Dilemma

As long as you are using the same Gamertag (name changes do not affect this - it's the same account), then all your digital purchases will carry across. If you created an entirely new account, then beware that licence ownership does not transfer between
separate accounts so you would need to use the previous account to download the content.

For disc-based games, you must physically possess the disc, so if you traded them in then yes, you would need to re-acquire the game (either physical or digital) in order to play them on Xbox One.

  5. Thanks for the reply.

I knew this feature was too good to be true. I traded all my discs in because, why would I have kept them? Thinking a year later someone will announce this feature?! Very disappointed...

So basically, I can't play anything until I purchase everything again? Better tell my friends...

I thought the whole 360 catalogue would of been free (at least games we owned, playable without a disc).

  6. So in other words, because I didn't keep my fingers crossed and kept all my 360 games for another year hoping backwards compatibility was announced, unless I spend another arm and leg on the same games, not all of us can actually play 360 games on the ONE?

  7. Or you could have kept your 360 and played the games on that.

    Backwards Compatibility Dilemma

Why on Earth would the entire 360 library be free? The console is still active and according to Ubisoft's figures, they're still shifting more software for the 360 than they are for the One. Do you think you should get those games free too?

How can you prove you've owned any games at all? Does MS take your word for it? Every game on your card could be from a 360 you played when you visited Gramma Betsy on weekends and you've never spent a dime or owned a single game.

Backwards compatibility means you can play the games you own on the new system. You're not being punished and the feature isn't lacking anything. lol You sold things you owned, you no longer own them, you don't get to play with them any more.

    Such bizarre expectations! I lol'd a lil.

  9. Yeah the whole 360 library wouldn't be free. What this backwards compatibility essentially is, is to make sure digital games and disc based 360 games work on the Xbox One by using emulation. You would need to install your 360 disc games as well.

But yeah, this is why I keep all of my games and never trade them in or sell them off.

  10. (Some of you don't have to be so abrupt, relax).

It is just disappointing that a whole year later they announce this feature. Considering many have blown thousands on over a hundred games... As if we would know this feature was going to exist, an entire year later.

It would of been nice if MS could actually reward loyal gamers.

It will not be great if the 360 games cost another $99 or $110 AU like they were at retailers a few years ago...

I guess this is MS's last ditch effort to bring the 360 dwellers over? I mean Sony is outselling us by millions, if this 'last gen' library was free to all (or was announced prior to people trading in everything and moving on), ONE sales would of sky rocketed
    above and beyond.

Let's just hope Sony doesn't get ideas from this and make things worse...

They already did. It's called Playstation Now.

  12. It is not so much of a big deal anyway. I couldn't care less about last gen games anyway, I was just curious as to how this worked, as E3 seemed a bit misleading...

It is a shame though, I was thinking about getting Burnout Paradise, Test Drive Unlimited 1 and 2 again, I forked out so much money for all the DLCs and never got all the achievements. Unfortunately, like Fallout 3/NV GOTY editions, most of these games don't
even exist in stores any more.

"They already did. It's called Playstation Now."

I was reading yesterday (that is why I actually mentioned that) apparently Sony sites or Playstation gamers are rallying to change up PSN.

If they make it free again, MS better do the same... Honestly, MS is a massive company, maybe almost have trillions of dollars, why do they need to keep milking every penny?!

Is all the dlc for games gonna work properly? Also, would the system recognize a dlc disc? And, would any kinect features work? If not does anyone know why kinect wouldn't work. Of course they're different but it would basically be the same functionality.
    So why wouldn't it work?

Did you actually think this thought out before you typed it? Why in the heck would places that accept trades actually go through with this? Those games, if they are now given away for free would be totally worthless since you can get them for free on the
One. The entire 360 console would become dead weight for MS and any retailer trying to sell it.

It astounds me when people come on here with the, "MS makes a lot of money, why do they need more?" argument. They're a business. They have shareholders. If you still wanted to play your 360 games, you shouldn't have gotten rid of the console.

What do you mean by, "blown"? Surely, when you bought that game, you were able to play that game. It isn't like you bought a game on the incorrect console and it just sat there unused.
