You're right about that. For all we know they could be working on an HD remake of Skyrim for the next gen, who knows? If not, it would be very surprising to NOT see Skyrim eventually hit the backwards compatibility program. My fingers are crossed for you.

This is a Generation where Publishers have been asking themselves:

"How can I make the player pay for this at least twice..."?

There's incentive for MS sure, but for Publishers... not so much.

  3. The incentive for publishers is potientially selling more games than they otherwise would have.

Lets face it, the X1 console wasn't selling very well until after BC was announced at E3, so now that the X1 is selling well, that's millions more console gamers who may wish to buy a publishers next gen titles for a specific console. And all it cost them
(publishers) was allowing their last gen titles to be BC on the X1 at ZERO cost to them.

Who wouldn't be happy with that?

Well, we'll see which publishers refuse to allow their aged titles to be BC as time goes on. Personally, I think if they (Publishers) has any brains at all, they'll hurry along having their old titles become BC because to do otherwise wouldn't reflect well
on them from a consumer standpoint!

In bussiness, image is everything! backwards compatibility crap ;)

^ I get your point, but I feel that's not really how it is. If the game gets remade for the One it'll have consisted of a group of people updating code, graphics and the likes. To do so for free would be a waste of revenue. When you buy the DVD of a movie,
do you instantly assume you're going to get the Blu Ray version for free?

When it comes to Remastered games, which is what you're implying. A Publisher can both "Allow" their past gen games to be BC while also doing a completely revamped version for current gen. Some publishers have even complied 2 or more past gen games into
    the same deal.

Again, I will point out that it costs publishers NOTHING, not-ta, zilch, to allow their past generation games to go BC. However, if a publisher blatantly says. "No." then they'll be gambling on loosing a percentage of their customers. If even the slightest
looses in revenue isn't relevant to them then in my view they're not as business savvy as they should be and will likely not stay in business very long! Especially in this economy, which has lost 2,000 plus points since January 2016!

They can't just support everything immediately, it's not like running old software on a new PC. It likely has to be thoroughly tested before they can say it's supported, also the publisher probably has to agree to it. If the publisher says no, too bad. Heck,
originally they said there wouldn't be any backwards compatibility at all. so be glad there is.

    Firstly:

The Xbox one Backwards compatibility is a bonus feature and shouldn't be a selling point for the console. The Xbox so far has a fantastic catalog of new games and exclusives that justifies the purchase a thousand times over. Microsoft never specified release
dates and they unfortunately do not have free rein of letting games just work on the built-in emulator... copyrights and all that and thus they need the blessing of the developers.

Secondly, you possibly can't be ripped off because our libraries are expanding by four games each month, FOUR. That's the two 360 titles (B/wards compat) and the two One games. In addition to this the library IS expanding, just give it time bud. I'm also
dying to replay my Skyrim and it so happens I'm also waiting for Blackops 2(Hate COD but I enjoyed BO2 very much), and if people keep asking, it WILL come. So don't worry, just be patient and go play some Shadow Of Mordor or BF4.

It takes time. I realize it must have sucked to sell off your 360 thinking you'd be able to play every 360 game you had, but that's just not how it works.

Get a hold of Bethesda and Activision to re-release the games you want. We all know Activision is open and we all know Bethesda is releasing Fallout 3 if they haven't already.

@ Lord Alaric,my games library isn't expanding by 4 games every month, not sure why you would think everyones games library is getting bigger by 4 games per month with Games with Gold.

You do realise a lot of people already own some of the games that are offered?

This month I got 1 free game,i own the other 3 already.

Like many of the programs that have been on the Xbox 360 or X1, I am sure the backward compatibility will evolve and get better over time. In fact, it was just announced games will be released when ready instead of the monthly schedule.

There are so many gamers with diverse tastes. As the program goes along, I am sure of the games we are all craving will begin to pop up and become available.

If you want Skyrim and BO to be backwards, speak to activision and bethesda as its ultimatly up to them.

As far as I know, bethesda has already ported Skyrim to the Xbox one, but as a training excersize for its employees, not meant to be released. Maybe with enough clamouring for it, they might release the Xbox one version.

You are right to feel ripped off.

Why would anyone want to play Backwards Compatible titles in the first place?

Apart from a small handful of games that will be 'really special' to certain individuals who cares about dated games when you could be playing the heaps of good stuff that's out today?

The BC push is designed to do one thing: Encourage XBox 360 owners to come to the XBox ONE.

It worked the way Microsoft wanted it to. Unfortunately not the way you wanted it to.

The backwards compatible states that new games are coming each month, it doesn't state which games and the games on the coming soon list aren't necessarily the next ones in line, just that they have been confirmed. The program launched November 12th, so
lots of things still need ironing out anyways.

Backwards compatibility is sort of 'meh'... (unless TES: Oblivion and Skate 3 get added haha)

Either way I don't feel ripped off no.
