I heard that you get the games free youve already got but does that include games i brought on retail discs of 360 played and then traded in for other things?

Does this counts as Already Brought games???

Gears of war 2&3 backward compatibility

when backwards compatability arrives buddy , you will not need to purchase the gears discs , the games come free on backwards compat as part of the promo for playing the game in that time frame.

I believe if you have no disc then no dice. You probably need a digital purchased download.

You would need the disc if the game was on a disc. If it was a digital download then you would be all good and just download it on Xbox One.

The 360 version of Skyrim is not backwards compatible. You'll want to check https://www.xbox.com/games/backward-compatibility to see if the other games you're missing are backwards compatible or not. Anything on disc would just need you to put the disc in the console.

According to this link the first Halo in the series is only backwards compatible with disc and not digital
