Backwards compability for USB 3.0 External hardrives on XBox 360?

Im just curious if, there is backwards compability for a USB 3.0 harddrives when they are connected to a xbox 360

Yep games and DLC will be on the internal hardrive, any saves will be in the Cloud (not games), Xbox One supports external storage USB 3.0. Anything you download and then delete will be sat there waiting for you to download it again should you feel the
need.

External Hardrive Help Please

Okay so I know that to use an external hardrive it has to have a 3.0 USB connection easy enough, but is there a maximum size that the hardrive can be, is there such a thing as too much. It so Happens I have one killer external hardrive ( link provided below)

I use a USB 3.0 drive.

Just don't buy a Seagate branded drive as they are poor quality and a lot of people have trouble getting them to work with the 360

 

Seagate drives are not poor quality. I have used many Seagate drives in PC builds and never seen one fail. The reason they don't work with 360 is that the firmware used by Xbox was not designed for Seagate drives - nothing to do with quality.

 

Seagate drives are atrocious. There's a reason why they're so cheap. You get what you pay for. They have the highest rate of failure among the most common manufacturers. Google HDD reliability per manufacturer to see for yourself.

To answer the OP's question, backwards compatibility is achieved through your console and the internal HDD to an extent. I don't think the Xbox 360 transfers or creates the 'emulation profiles' needed for emulation onto an external drive.
