Backward Compatibility

I got an Xbox a couple months ago, and am really enjoying my time with it. Everything was running smoothly until I got Star Wars the Force Unleashed from Xbox Gold, and it would always freeze at the start screen. At the time I didn't care too much, it was
a free game anyway, but I recently bought Super Meat Boy, and it's having the same problem. My only guess is the fact that they are both originally Xbox 360 games, because any other game I've tried, whether by disc or digital, works fine. I have tried looking
online for a troubleshoot, but nothing has worked... Can someone help me?

Because of backward compatibility you will be able to join parties, join games but only the xbox 360 game you have started up.

Sorry to hear about the issue with playing Xbox 360 Games through Backward Compatibility. Let's have you try these steps to clear the Xbox 360 cache on the Xbox One and see if it helps.

• Scroll left on the Home screen to open the guide.

(Note Double-tapping the Xbox button will open the guide from any other screen on the console.)

• Select Settings.
• Select All settings.
• Select System and then select Storage.
• Select Clear local Xbox 360 storage.
• Select Yes and restart the console. (This will not affect your cloud saved games or Xbox One games and profiles.)

No such luck. I tried what you said and it still froze in the beginning... I even went to far as to uninstall the game, clear the 360 storage, and reinstall. What could the problem be?

 

Sorry to hear the steps didn't work, are these games installed to the internal hard drive or to an external hard drive? If you try playing the games on another profile does that seem to work at all? If the games are installed to an external hard drive, try
disconnecting the external hard drive and install a fresh copy to the internal drive and see if it works.

Still nothing. I have it downloaded on internal and tried it with a secondary acc, including reinstall, but it still continues to freeze on the startup screens.

 

Thanks for trying that, let's go ahead in this case and do a factory restore on the console and see if it helps. You can keep your Games and apps installed, but you will need to re-sign into any account again on the console. You can see how to do this

I did the factory restore, and nothing has changed. I even did a mix of all the troubleshoots you've suggested so far, but it still freezes just before the main screen. I thank you for trying to help, but at this point I don't see any other way to make it
work

 

Bummer, sorry to hear it didn't work. The last thing to try is to see if you can play these games on another console, that will tell us if there is an issue with the console itself. If you need to send the console in for repairs, you can do this online

HERE as a last resort. You might also want to try doing a full factory reset without keeping games and apps as another last resort before the repair process.

Alright, so it's been a good while since I last replied, but I have new information. First off, I got Super Meat Boy on my computer and it works fine. Secondly, I got Destiny and It keeps crashing at various points throughout the first couple cinematics.
The same thing happened w/ the free trial for it, but I didn't really care then. I decided to do a reset while keeping my games and apps to see if it would fix the problem, and in the process of getting it all set up again the Xbox crashed... not in any game/app.
Destiny is a Xbox 1 game, but it still is glitching like the 360 games. What do you think the problem is? P.S. I also tried to play the Assassins Creed game that's on Xbox Gold, but since it's backward compatible it didn't work either.

 

If the Xbox is crashing during setup, the issue sounds hardware related. Would you be able to try playing these games on another console to see if you're able to play them without any issues?

I don't know when that would be possible, but I could probably make that happen, seeing as I have several friends with an Xbox 1.
