Backward compatibility multiplayer between 360 and Xbox One on home LAN

    Hello everyone,

I just wanted to post this topic since I haven't seen any info about it so far.

After NXE update and a bit of persistence, I was able to get my 360 and XB1 sync'd

up and play Gears of War 3 online multiplayer at home on my LAN. Works well and

was super excited to have dual screen GOW3 at home for my Son and I, but I did have to figure out a few

things on my own- 1. You have to send game invite from 360 to XB1 in order to join any games.

    2. Of course you need two separate profiles with Xbox live on each and each profile must be friend's of the other profile but you must send game invite from 360- XB1 will

not let you send game invite to a 360 profile. I'm not sure if anyone else has tried this as I said haven't seen

any info on any sites yet but it is nice to know that it works and I'm looking forward to trying this with other back compat games.

If anyone has any info they'd like to share or tips to add, I'm all ears- happy gaming! Backward compatibility multiplayer between 360 and Xbox One on home LAN :)

    :)

You can't connect a xbox 360 and xbox one in lan.

You can play ina xbox one console the xbox 360 games that are part of the backward list:

Sadly there is no cross platform support between the Xbox 360 and the Xbox one console. Xbox backwards compatibility just means you can play the 360 version on your Xbox one.

I haven't played any BC games yet, so I can't say anything for sure... but I do recall seeing a few 'hints & tips' videos and just wanted to throw this out there. If you're using the Xbox One home screen or friends list, you won't be able to send invites
to people on the 360 that way.

If you're on the Xbox One and playing a BC game, it is basically 'running an app' that mimics the Xbox 360... so you should be able to do anything that could be done on the 360, I would think. Therefore, in order to send an invite from the X1, while playing
a 360 BC game, you'd have to bring up the old 360 guide. This is done by pushing both the "back" button and the "start" button (small buttons on each side of the large center button) at the same time.

If you haven't tried that yet, give it a try. Don't know why it wouldn't work... wouldn't be much other reason to have the old guide accessible in an X1 BC game if it didn't?

MULTIPLAYER BETWEEN XBOX ONE AND XBOX 360

Multiplayer between Xbox One and Xbox 360 in Minecraft is not possible, as those are two different game versions.

You can only play backward compatible Xbox 360 games on your Xbox One with your friend. A list of games you can play with your friend are listed here: https://www.xbox.com/xbox-one/backward-compatibility/available-games

Also be aware, that not all games from that list support online multiplayer.

Xbox 360 Vs One LAN (Version Mismatch???)

Honestly I've never heard of someone successfully achieving a LAN between the two. Backwards Compatibility was a totally unplanned addition to Xbox One so part of me doubts it's even possible to achieve as the protocols will be different

    internal multiplayer network

It's possible but you have to meet the following criteria for this to work:

    1. All devices have to be on the same network (LAN) so that they can communicate to each other.

    2. On your router settings, AP Isolation has to be disabled (it is by default most of the time).

    3. The game that you're going to play has to have a local LAN feature in the game, that allows a user to create a game (host) and have others join in via searching for the game in the LAN menu (Halo 2 has this feature, for example).

    4. To play on Xbox Ones and Xbox 360s, mixed together, you must have the same game and same version. For example, if you have the Xbox 360 version (technically Xbox original version) of Halo 2 with the Xbox One version of Halo 2 on the Master Chief Collection
(has all the halo games in it), that won't work as they're not the same version of the game - they may both have a LAN feature but it will not allow you to find another LAN game made by the other type of console: the game is different in how it's made.

    5. For you to be able to play one game on multiple devices mixed between Xbox One an Xbox 360 and play LAN together you must have the same version of the game - being the Xbox 360 version since that's the 'lower denominator' in this situation. Check to make
    sure you have the

Xbox 360 version of the game on all systems (disc or digital, doesn't matter) and make sure that game is on the backwards compatible list to see if it will work on Xbox One:

    http://www.xbox.com/xbox-one/backward-compatibility/available-games
If the game is not on that list you will have to stick to playing LAN on only Xbox 360s or only Xbox Ones.

    Hope this helps!
