FIRST-- Are they going to make mote 360 games Back Compat? Like the COD or Ghosts...?

None of the 360 games I own are BC. No Call of Duty or Ghosts or Medal of Honor or Tomb Raider. Not one? Not one of those games are worth the (trouble?) I dont know what they have to do to make a game BC and wish I could find out more., That is a question.

It just seems strange to me that none of those popular games is BC and would love to hear a explanation. Other then its not worth the money (my guess).

When I look up what games are BC I see "Legos jerks off" or some other BS titles. Excuse my language but they just look like BS games that only a small few would even want to play anyways!

I did see Halo and Gears of war which I know a lot of ppl like, but still. I have a couple hundred dollars worth of games I can't play anymore. I know I can trade them in, but I really don't see any other games I like besides Rainbow six seige.

I thought I saw Black Opps 2 was going to be BC but cant find it or Rainbow 6 Vegas which I thought was BC.

Anyway, if someone has some knowledge about this I would be happy for a reply.

    The 2 questions are:

Are more 360 games going to come out BC?

What do they have to do to make a 360 game BC?

Is it the video card problems? Processor? What?

    Thanks in advance

    :)

    Games missing

I pre-ordered the Gears of war ultimate edition and knew that we should get the other xbox 360 versions in the collection when the backward compat. came out.

Checked yesterday and noticed none the games are available for me to download? has anyone encountered this problem. Does this mean they are not BC yet?

I cannot seem to get answers...HELLLPPPppppp

    Backwards Compatibility to 360

2 years from now backwards compat will be a fart in the wind... no one would care... seem like only the people that seem to have traded their 360 away to afford an X1 are the ones so deep set on BC... TBH.. my 360 has been turned on 4 times since I got
my X1. and that was to game with a broke friend who cant afford a 1 yet

You will just have to wait

You have to remember those are third party titles.not first party

Ms has to get the permission. First then write the patch

    This takes time

    It's a completely different cpu.

  7. They claim it's only a matter of getting the publisher's permission, and I believed that while I played Fable II. But trying to play Reach has made me realize that their PPC64-to-x86 recompiler is still a work in progress.

The bottleneck is the CPU, by the way.

Nope as each disk game has to download a patch

Digital games would.already have the patch

  9. there are more BC games coming out, the reason it is taking so long is that they have to create an emulated version of the game from scratch, and then gain permission from the game's publishers, the architecture or the xbox 360 is different from the One
and that's what is taking them so long.

  10. Hi,

Even when Microsoft gets the backing of the publisher to make a game BC, it's not as simple as putting the game on there, 'flicking a switch' and the game is playable. It actually takes a considerable amount of work to get an Xbox 360 game to be playable on
the Xbox One. I read this article on the EuroGamer Website in November, which was quite insightful.

Fallout 3 shows Xbox One backward compatibility at its best

I'm sure you'll find this bit the most interesting part:

We asked The Coalition's studio technical director, Mike Rayner, whether any optimisation or conversion was required in bundling prior Gears of War titles into the Ultimate Edition.

"It is essentially the exact same code," Rayner replied. "The Xbox team converts the 360 game and 360 flash PPC executables into native x64 executables, packages those up with the 360 game assets, 360 flash and emulator as a regular Xbox One game, and publishes
    it."

"It is essentially the exact same code," Rayner replied. "The Xbox team converts the 360 game and 360 flash PPC executables into native x64 executables, packages those up with the 360 game assets, 360 flash and emulator as a regular Xbox One game, and publishes
    it."

And this explains why we can't have immediate backward compatibility access to every Xbox 360 game in our library: the Xbox team itself seems to be recompiling the original PowerPC code to run on the x64 AMD Jaguar cores integrated inside Xbox One. This
revised code is then bundled with the original game assets, along with x64-based versions of the Xbox 360 OS itself. [UPDATE 16/11/15 8:51am: Reader L_A_G writes with another compelling theory: that the source code isn't being recompiled, but instead a binary
translator is used instead.] In effect it seems that the Xbox team is able to quickly produce streamlined ports of original Xbox 360 projects. It's a remarkable achievement, and perhaps also explains why so many simpler titles are in the initial batch of backward
    compatible titles.

  11. YEAH! I was right. They are using static recompilation.

EDIT: Static recompilation = ahead-of-time binary translation.

    Obsessive power,

Thanks, this is some of the stuff I was looking for (may have to look up some things...)

I'm in my 60's. I grew up on DOS. Different times. I remember when I got a 233MMX, PC100sdram, 16MB RAM (Ithink), but it was BOSS at the time. Well not to bore you...

Yours is the info I was looking for. I am going to have to go over it well to understand. When I was in school for networking I remember my Profe's telling me that computer technology was like dog years. It is a 3yr advance per year to the reg stuff at the
time. I now know that to be true.

I am well behind the curve but keep an interesting mind.

Thank you for helping me and I hope you do not mind if I ask more questions?

    Thanks in advance

    Brian

I hope you do not asking you more questions. One thing I have learned in life (for the most part)

It has to be profitable for a company to move forward on a project. Some may bite the bullet! But not most. I am not saying that is wrong. Its capitalism, that is all.

Sorry I am dragging this on.

  14. Just a little note about Tomb Raider )2013), it came to xbox one as Definitive Edition. But Anniversary, Legend, Underworld would be a nice BC addition.
