    Backup of disk without voiding warranty


    I have a problem with my One S, I can power it on but it won't start (it shuts down after about 40-50 seconds).

    I have opened a ticket to fix it under warranty, but I need to execute a backup of the disk in order to save all the game progress and console setup.

    Is there a way to perform the backup without voiding the warranty?

    unfortunately I think it's a disk drive issue, that need repair.

    cleaning disks usually doesn't work.

    No way to clean the disk drive without actual open the drive, but I do not recoomed this, since it would be useless and void the warranty, not to mention that it's against the Microsoft TOS.

    It sounds like the cd drive is starting to break but if you have opened your console you have a void warranty on the console. dose it struggle to load from disks or just certain disks?

    Hey joy211191! At this time there is not a way to change the HDD in the console without voiding the warranty. Thanks!

    Warranty was voided.

    Sometimes contacting the main customer service line and asking them can net some results. Depending on how the work order was made, whether through them or on your own, they can often see the work order notes. Depending on what's wrong though it may not
    go all that in depth. It's enough to just have one of the seals be tampered with to void the warranty or if it shows significant signs of wear or abuse externally. But I'd start with giving customer service a call, 1-800-4-MY-XBOX.
