    Background music feature, Xbox 360 did it better


    It was just announced at E3 that this feature will be coming later this summer. I am really confused why this is being treated like a new thing.

    The Xbox 360 supported this feature at launch and the
    mini-guide you used to start it     was fast and responsive. That is the type of interface I've come to expect from consoles. A light, fast UI with the sole purpose of taking a backseat and putting friends, games and media first. I firmly believe the XBOX 360
    blade UI is the best we are ever going to get unless something drastic changes.

    I get you're going for a Windows 10 theme for uniformity. That's fine. Just don't bog down system performance with unnecessary transitions, ads, and pictures.

    In the new update it stated "Background Music: Today’s update brings the ability for the highly requested feature of Background Music, which lets you listen to your favorite music in the background while gaming on Xbox One. The Pandora app, launching soon,
    is the first of many partners who will support Background Music, with Groove Music, iHeartRadio and other apps coming later."

    Pandora is coming soon, as stated in the update release. However, there is one current App that will work with this function called CAST, it is a free music app. You can use this now until the other music apps are updated to work with the new Background
    Music feature.

    Play your own music using the new background music feature

    So today an app called simple background music was released and this lets you use a usb drive for music playback. which is what the 360 could do but better. To find it go to the apps section and search for background music and it should be the 1st result.

    I'm going to guess that background music playback is a feature that Microsoft did not think was worth keeping...kind of like Kinect support.

    Most people have a plethora of devices that can playback music that programming in background support for the One just wasn't something Microsoft could be bothered to do.

    I miss two features of the 360 on the One. Playing your own music in the background for any game (a launch feature on the 360 as I recall) and the client for Windows Media Center (that I paid extra money for on Windows 8 to have).

    The snap feature was very useful to me i used to use it a lot but when i found out on 360 that i could have my music playing in the background of my games that became my favorite feature by far!

    summer update background music is a joke

    trust me when i say this look when the xbox 360 came out it featured background music no 3rd party app with ads but all of a sudden Xbox One comes no background music at launch but summer 2016 update comes but now its got to be a 3rd party app not the Xbox's
    own media player. its strange that the first app is not one of Microsofts and yet its strange that they allowed this instead of updating one of there own.
