Background DVR recording

Discus and support Background DVR recording in XBoX Games and Apps to solve the problem; I have the background recording function set to 10 minutes but whenever I want to save it after a game it only saves approximately 4 minutes.     Background DVR recording


    I have the background recording function set to 10 minutes but whenever I want to save it after a game it only saves approximately 4 minutes. Not even the latest 4 minutes, just a random 4 minute interval in the set 10 minutes.

    Can I fix this somehow?

    Hey mufaya13! Are you able to confirm that the DVR is on in the app settings and that you have background recording enabled? Post back and let me know!

    DVR Not recording

    I had same issue of the dvr not recording when i requested ' xbox record that' I was getting the notification saying that the clip was being recorded however there was no notification saying that the recording had ended. However the dvr recorded automatically
    when being promoted etc.

    My fix was the snap the game dvr while playing the game so that its on in the background. Now all my xbox record that requests are now being saved and ready for editing

    i only stated it as you have used game dvr to do that recording and if allow recording in background is enabled then i would check that first.

    Hi Fellow gamer,

    We recommend to check the settings for the recording feature that does it in the background.

    1. First right click the start button.
    2. Click settings.
    3. Click gaming.
    4. Click game DVR
    5. Look for Record in the background while I'm playing a game. Make sure it is on.
    Try this and let us know.

    Overkill and not really a solution.

    To disable the DVR you just needed to look at the xbox settings.

    XBOX app > settings > DVR for games -> Disable background recording or something like that.

    If you wanted to remove the entire xbox app, there's a few more steps you'd take and it may even break part of the OS.
