Background Downloads Wont Download

so I just bought a game from the store on xbox live, and when I leave it to download with background downloads on... It won't download. No one in my family is touching the xbox, and im connected to WIFI. I now need to leave my xbox on to download games
which chews up electricity like anything so please. FIX THISSS I

I'm just wondering with the instant on start up mode downloading updates when the console is not in use, does it also finish downloads like add ons and games that you're purchased like the background downloads mode on 360?

Background downloads

If you have your console set to Instant On, the game will continue to download while the console is in its low power state. Your console will also download game updates while in the this state too.

 

You're saying fix it as if it's a problem with the software, when in reality the problem is localized to your console.

In any case, there's a lot of reasons that it wouldn't download. One being your router having a timeout, disconnecting any devices that don't use a specified amount of bandwidth. Another reason could be your HDD has corrupted downloads on it and your console
doesn't want to download any more. Clear HDD cache. Also make sure your download feature is indeed enabled and that you're signed into the account with the content that you wish to download when you do end up turning your console off.

does it just stop downloading or does it show an error when it's trying to download (when you turn the console on again)

Also is your console connected directly to a wall socket or via a surge protector?
