Background Downloads Not Working

So last night, I went to download the game Spiderman 2, as it is now on a special ^0% off offer, and turned my Xbox off, so that it could continue to download in the background (like it has done many times before), however, my Xbox did not carry on with
the background download and turned itself off (after I hit the guide button and chose to turn off the console).??

This always used to work for me before so are a little confused as to why this feature is now not working?! :S I turned my console back on, and after it booted up successfully, looked under the 'Active Downloads' section in the guide, and the game was indeed,
still downloading so decided to try it again - switched off the console, and again, the console turned off (it did NOT carry on with the background download like it used to before - when the light flashes to show that the Xbox is in alow powered state and
downloading in the background)?

I also do indeed have this feature turned on, in the settings section so not really sure why it is now not working?!?!?

Background downloads not working

The xbox 360 background downloads feature isn't working for me.

I know that it used to work for me but since the latest update it doesn't work.

I'll start downloading something , turn off the xbox and it shuts off completely after 3 seconds.

It used to flash and keep downloading until the download was finished but now it just turns itself off and doesn't download anything.

Its a real pain.

I have to keep my 360 fully turned on now when downloading anything wasting electricity.

My xbox 360 is connected to the internet via wi fi now whereas it was wired in the past but it still should work.

Can anyone help me get the background downloads working the way they're supposed to over wifi.

Background Downloads not working

I'd recommend just keeping your console turned on. BG downloads usually download at a slower rate than normal as to not cause network congestion.

My Xbox one background download feature only works less than half the time. It worked the first day I started the download fir mcc but every time I shut it down now it doesn't work and it's set to instant on and everything but it still isn't downloading
when it's off.

Hey there Quinn! That's definitely odd that it kept turning off for you. I can certainly understand if you'd rather not bother troubleshooting it; but if you'd like to troubleshoot, can you tell us what you were trying to download that wouldn't keep
the console downloading? Was it one specific thing or more than one thing?

Like I said, if you'd like to troubleshoot just hit us back and we'll work with you from there. If not, Game On and have a good one! ^_^

I've only been gaming on my pc recently but anyway that's what I was doing originally and it didn't work.

I had download while console is off set enabled and it just wouldn't continue downloading when my console was turned off.

It would just turn itself off after about 3 seconds.

I gave up on it anyway because I've nothing else to download on it anyway.

That's not the case!

Back ground downloading put your 360 into semi standby mode and downloads the stuff on you list.

The power lige on the front will flash intermeidetly (spelling) showing it is downloading. Once it has done downloading it will turn itself off.

You turn BG downloading in the console settings.

WHy it is not working for the OP i do not know.

I found that once I had turned background downloads on, I had to turn machine off, then on again. After that, when I had something to download, it worked fine when I shut the machine down.

I thought background downloads was for when you were playing a game that didnt require the internet so the downloads carry on whilst your'e playing a SP game.
