Back4Blood won't launch

A friend and I would like to play Back4Blood but I can't seem to get it running on my machine.

Running Windows 10 and every driver is up-to-date.

I tried installing the game probably like 20 times on different drives with mixed results.

Sometimes I get the error 0x8007001 after the installation is complete.

Sometimes I don't, it doesn't seem like it's different when installing on the C: drive or any other drive.

But after some time the installtion is successfull and out of nowhere a Explorer windows opens with a new J: drive.

I know that Xbox games create Xvd drives to be stored, but for whatever reason the Xvd drive of B4B registers as J: drive and stays visable.

When I try to boot up the game the real problem occurs, the small Easy Anti Cheat window opens, load, and then crashes with the message "Unknow file version(Back4Blood.exe)".

I got the game running without EAC, played singleplayer and the game seems to be installed correctly.

It's just the interaction from EAC that messes up the start.

I'm using Kaspersky and thought that it might do something to the installation or while the game is starting, but even without it the game won't start.

Other games that use Easy-Anti-Cheat work fine. And I can't repair the B4B installation of EAC because it's not even in their list of games.

If you are running a third-party anti-virus program, you need to allow EZ Anti Cheat to run and bypass your software or alternatively you can disable your anti-virus program.

You can also attempt to right click the game application icon and run it as an admin. This gives the game administrator rights allowing it to bypass most restrictions. "

This may mean we’re having trouble checking usage rights. Can you please sign in to https://account.microsoft.com/services and make sure that your Xbox Game Pass subscription is active?

Well, in this case, I recommend you to report this bug to the Back4Blood Support directly, given that you've done all of the necessary steps possible to fix the issue, and it still occurs. There's a very small chance that it might have a certain incompatibility with Windows 11. Either way, report this issue here: https://back4blood.bugs.wbgames.com/
