Back to the drawing board?

The announcements today show that the Xbox One had a rough launch and the road ahead is uphill.

Microsoft lost focus on what a gaming console is supposed to do, and I now own a $100 paper weight.

This policy change only enhances my frustration with this console.

I don't care about discounts on new games. I don't care about free games with gold.

I care about great hardware that is critical for great games.

The only news I want to see out of Microsoft is a total recall of all Xbox One's for better RAM/CPU/GPU. Powerful hardware is all that matters for a gaming console.

This is the opinion of a man that has spent tens of thousands of dollars on console gaming and who has played tens of thousands of hours.

Scrap that, it's playing up again. Got a flawless 8 hours from it though. Back to the drawing board...

You want powerful gaming hardware?? Build yourself a top of the line gaming PC.....

The X1 keeps getting better and better. Not even a year into the console and it has drastically improved since launch day.

 

Basically what the chaps above me have said is spot on. If powerful hardware is that important to you then a gaming console may not be the best option for you.

 

Now my broken Kinect is truly a paper weight, but just because they announced the console without Kinect does not automatically make it useless.....

From where I'm sitting console gaming is different and when someone wants something for it, or for it to be a certain way, we shouldn't compare it to a PC. Sure they both play games and movies and surf the net, but they are different. Space crafts
get us from point A to point B, same as a skateboard, but they are both different.....completely.

The above post means no ill will. I'm just sick of hearing people telling someone to get a PC when they want a powerful console.

 

OP buys this console knowing the exact specs (they weren't a secret, everone knew)...now is complaining that the hardware is not powerful enough, wants a recall to replace components he/she knew was already inside when purchased.....if hardware specs are
that important, get a pc.....And I don't own a gaming pc, don't start name dropping, as you don't know me at all.....and I will say "get a PC" to everyone complaining/whining about hardware specs as much as I want, you don't rule these forums.

 

I thought a console was a PC. PC stands for personal computer right, and my Xbox One is a closed platform PC?.

 

They actually based on cost effective PC parts. Basically they build a box install the software on it and hype it up for the market. I guess a lot of unhappy peeps on here today regarding the kenectless X BOne announcements.

Really you should of waited the X BOne was launched at a very high price, you paid that and bought into the MS hype. I find it unbelievable how gamers thought it would never happen. The X BOne and Kinnect would never be seperated. MS couldn't compete
in the market price wise so they did the only thing they could cut the ball and chain that had been placed on the console.

 

This isn't about PC gaming. This is about console gaming. This is about Xbox One. Microsoft lost focus and skimped on the hardware. They spent a ton of money on novelty when that money could have been used for better hardware and/or AAA first party games.

The consequences of their poor decisions is that they have to pay out big money now to sustain Xbox One. Developers have described the newest console CPUs as "weak sauce". So now we have disgruntled developers that hate the hardware. How can good games come
from that?

If you look at the original Xbox, it was lauded for its power. It brought revolutionary games to console, and even threatened the PC market. It finished in 2nd place to the most popular console in history. It built a foundation for the successor console
to finish in 1st, but Microsoft has let that mindset slip away. The 2nd half of the 360 generation has stagnated and there's nothing exciting about the new generation. The video game market needs innovation. Without it, you will get an '83 crash again.

 

OP....did you not do any research before buying the xbox one?? Because you sound like you made a blind purchase. Most people who did any reading/research ahead of time knew that the xbox one had less power than the competition. You stated that you want MS
to recall the box and install higher performing components, did you not know what was in there before handing out your cash/credit card number? If so, that is on you. Your pleas for a more powerful console are a year too late, should have phoned Mattrick a
long time ago. Sorry.
