Back to 2142 for BF5?

Wonder if the folks at Dice will consider going back to a futuristic Sci-Fi themed game for the next BF? I know it was done before with 2142... but it wasn't on Xbox and thus I never played it. Not sure how good (or bad) it was compared to BF4... but I
would love to see a BF game in the future. with stuff like armored solidiers, smart weapons. Futuristic vehicles and environments. etc,

Any chance?

Heck... with the success of Titanfall, maybe throw in a Mech or two, that would be awesome combined with BF's engine!!

carrier strike mode(bf4) game mode

It is Carrier assault. After playing it for a while, I can say it is one of my favorite game modes in the game. It brings back my battlefield 2142 memories. Although the titan mode in 2142 was more polished and deep, the way of implementation of that in BF4 is fine enough to have fun.

Honestly, I think 2142 would make a great comeback as an expansion to 3. So long as Titan mode is brought back, I'm sure they have the rest handled fine. Also, Fueld, we got the 1943 arcade title. I doubt we'll see much from that era for a while again from
Dice. 2142 is the only BF title that hasn't really had a recent remake/sequel/expansion/etc. All other titles have. I think it's time 2142 came back.

 

I never got to play BF 2142 and wouldn't mind seeing the series go futuristic, but I would rather have it to the WW2 era as a lot of the games I plan to buy are either set in modern times or set in the future.

 

See Star Wars: Battlefront which is being developed by DICE, there's a good chance it'll be awesome. Know that BF5 will be modern combat, they've clearly taken up the COD yearly franchise killer cycle. (high sales + no respect).

 

Id rather WWII or Vietnam eras.

 

+1 for Vietnam - never played that add-on so it'd would be completely new to me.

 

Really wish that BF would go back to the old style they had, and release games solely for multiplayer like they once did back when it was PC only. 2142 was good fun and all, but it was only an expansion for BF2. So pretty much everything was the same but
with added guns, vehicles, maps etc.

 

back in 2007 Ghostlight was producing a game called "to end all wars" ...too bad that never got finished...what I read reminded me of FFOW, specifically the 'frontlines' game mode which was awesome...50 player lobbies and huge maps with a wide variety of
vehicles to choose from....the game mode required a team to capture 2 to 3 points to move the front line...it was a modern or near future shooter, now imagine that same mechanic applied to a WW1 shooter...trench networks with open ''no mans land" zones in
between ...throw in some WW1 era trucks and tanks and WW1 era biplanes ....might have been pretty cool man

 

not the best idea for releasing another battlefield at the moment. dice should fix bf4 for all systems, month now. and a bf2142 "clone" can't beat titanfall, i think.

 

Dice has stated that they're staying in modern times for quite sometime.

 

Bi Planes sounds great. Id definately play a BF with those. Give us WWI!

 

Why not the civil war, with muskets and cannons? Firearms capable of putting 1 shot downrange per 45 seconds! Hey, if you're good enough, maybe even 1 per 30 seconds! Hell, the fights could be old school slaughters too with both armies amassing on opposing
ridges and funneling down to meet each other in the valley resulting in tens of thousands of casualties per hour. How fun would that be?

It occurs to me that it would be fun to do a knife/melee only TDM game again with forum members. A year ago Clean Roach spearheaded one of these knife only TDM game nights and it was fun. Want my dog tags? Come n take 'em! > Seriously, it would be fun.
