Back compat a joke?

Some old games are great. When I play a game i used to love I get bored of it after 5 minutes especially if it looks like crap. That's just me. I don't really get the nostalgic feelings.

Don't get me wrong, I don't want to spend all my time revisiting old favourites, but to have the option on one console would be great and allow me to get rid of my 360 and free up some space (maybe for a PS4!)

Bottom line is Microsoft / Xbox did not have to do a darn thing for BC. They were not forced to make this work on the One. They did it because we all asked for it. How in the heck could that be taken as a joke and not something great?

This. The difference for me is that a re-master makes it easy for me to get that immersion factor all over again. Mass Effect being BC gives it about a 15% chance of me playing
it again. A re-master would have made it ~80% or higher because it's a great game to begin with and now there's something 'new' about it.

I noticed some people are acting like its only nostalgia people want to play older games.

Question: I'm twenty-three but do you think its nostalgia that makes me enjoy Chrono Trigger or Planescape Torment? I didn't even know they existed back then because I was too young but I love these games and played them well after the fact. Torment I played
about year ago for the first time after hearing good things about it. Having access to older titles shouldn't be hand waved on just "nostalgia."

I'm all for remasters but not every game is going to get that treatment, So BC with all the benefits of playing on the One for all the titles that were never getting remastered is a brucie bonus! Means my library of 360 titles isn't redundant anytime
soon and if I get a hankering for some nostalgic gaming I'm good to go. Nothing but win in my book.

Comparing BC going from OXB to 360 to the potential to play 360 games on the One is a bit of an apples/oranges example. For one, a lot of OXB games were 4:3 so they really looked like poo after playing a lot of games in 16:9. There are some games on 360,
like Skyrim and RDR, that can still stand up to some games released on current gen.

Mass Effect is a poor example simply because the game doesn't look that great anymore. But I imagine Skyrim, getting a bit of upscaling on the One, would still look great. A big perk for me would be getting to use the new controller.

Like a few people have said, it's nice to have options for revisiting some beloved classics in the 360 library. You have to admit, there are some epics in there, and this gen is still a bit shy on epic games.

While B.C. would have made more of a splash with me on launch, there are still a few 360 games I would love to play again in the future. Ninja Gaiden II, Blue Dragon, Civilization Revolution, and maybe even some Black Ops II for my C.O.D. fix.

I think ms will really go to town with this, and add every possible 360 game they can. A lot of people seem to be dismissing the bc on the X1, But it's already showing they're putting a lot of effort in, unlike they did with the bc on the 360.

This is obviously just the test(preview) period, so saying it sucks before its actually released to the general public? That's very premature.

I honestly hope the X1 stays in second place to the PS4 sales wise, because the extra effort ms put in month after month while trying to catch up, definitely shows.

Not this again. Who cares how old the game is or looks, if its a great game.....then it's a great game.

I have constantly gone backward and forwards between 360 and X1 over the last few years, I never once thought "OMG, I can't pay this game because it looks dated". I played through all 3 Mass Effects back to back earlier this year and loved every minute.
The thought that I can finally play 360 games without the need for the 360 is great, I can soon pack it away and not have to mess around with multiple consoles when I want to play a 360 game.

The point is Blue if that "might" time comes then the facility is there for you, and that can only be a good thing, I don't care if it's a few years before I get the itch to revisit a classic title, point is I will be able to if and when I decide to.
