' b' Appended To Gamertag

Hi there.

This issue may just be cosmetic. On the Xbox One, selecting Settings > Personalisation > My profile, I see my gamertag displayed as ' b' at the top left. I'm not entirely sure where the ' b' has come from. Can this be removed at all? All of
the other locations where my gamtertag is displayed show the correct tag of ''.

I'm quite happy to change this myself if pointed in the right direction.

Inability to Cancel Xbox Live through the Online "Account Manager"

that's another problem. because i have a hotmail account the site automatically tries to sign me into it, and when it does it's appended to a gamertag that isn't mine. i've emailed support to fix it dozens of times and they ignore me. i'm really over
microsoft.

this should normally be your Gamertag that is shown there so it shouldn't be different from what is shown in the forums when loggin in with the same xbox live account (so same email address etc).

Just to be sure can you check the name shown on the following link to see if it shows the 'b' :

That was it, thanks. I don't believe I have logged in to that site before and seen that page. Most of my activities have been handled via the consoles. It was attempting to display my real world name. I had never entered my name in the past, so I guess it
had been populated by some automated update over the years.

The Gamertag naming has been changed to something similar to what Discord does.

If you want to get an "OG" Gamertag (i.e. a Gamertag with no "Xx" or numbers or whatever), simply choose the name you want.

If the name already exists, a number gets appended to make it unique.

So if you want to have for example "Joe" as your Gamertag, and it already exists, an "invisible" number gets appended.

So while the Xbox simply shows "Joe", in reality your Gamertag is stored as "Joe#7411" for example.

I think I failed in that I accidentally accepted a version of the gamertag with numerical numbers appended at the end. Whomp whomp.

This is how Microsoft is handling gamertag now. They're doing stuff where multiple people can have the same name, but they append a numerical suffix to the end of the name to ensure uniqueness.
