Avatar stuff

when i first got the console i could buy any of the avatar stuff with just the gold i earned from my games. i even went has far as buying a few more gold. now it's saying i have to actually pay money to get any of my avatar stuff. does anyone else find this
even alittle bit annoying cuz me and my husband both have alot of gold point we can use but can't.

What you're referring to is Microsoft points. Those were not points earned from games. It was just a type of currency Microsoft used for purchases in the marketplace. The points system was discontinued in August. So now everything is in your local currency.
You can still add money to your account without having to use a credit card though by purchasing a prepaid card.

 

Gold? You mean gamerscore? It's not a form of currency. People would abuse it and hack for more gamerscore if it was. There are some games that have avatar awards you can unlock, you won't need to pay for those.

When the first avatar stuff popped up I bought all of it the first month cause I felt like it and you always had to use Microsoft Points.

There was no gold.

Gold is the free to play currency you pay real dollars for.You can still unlock lots of free avatar item in games but not all games have them.There used to be a website that showed all free avatar itenms you could unlock.To see if a game has avatar items
to unlock open the guide and hit the awards tab.This will show the items that are unlockable and how to do it.

 

Not to overstate the already overstated but i think you're talking about microsoft points and/or avatar awards, which, are free and are unlocked through gameplay.

There's a Lexus freebie on my dash right now too, if you miss any of the freebies you can go in the avatar store and check for them. There's a Wendy's shirt, Avengers shirt, Twizzlers shirt & outfit, Taco Bell has a couple too. Check props, shirts & outfits.
Those tend to be the only freebies. Sometimes you'll get accessories (hats/glasses) but they usually suck.
