avatar store-props (free/paid)

can i ask a question regarding the xbox (one) avatar store? i try "purchasing" free props for my avatar and run into something about needing a credit card. is this true? i don't have/use credit cards or paypal. am i out of luck getting free
avatar props as well as ones that cost money? will this ever change?

this regards getting free/paid props for my avatar. if i go here (Avatar Store) on my computer can i get props for my (xbox one) avatar without needing a credit card or paypal as a payment option? if so, how would
i go about it, exactly? i can't afford a used xbox 360 right now.. is an xbox 360 the only option where i don't need a payment option?

For paid items you can add currency to your account using an Xbox gift card and purchase them that way. But it looks like the avatar store works the same as the 360 store, you would need a valid payment method on file, even for free content. The One and
xbox.com do not recognize your Microsoft account balance as a valid payment option for 360 content. So a payment method is required to be on file.

instead of using a credit card as a payment option could i use an xbox gift card? say the gift card was $10.00. any time i bought an avatar prop the amount would be deducted from the $10.00, correct? once that amount is gone i'd get another gift card to
replace it? how do i know how much is left on the gift card?

 

As said above, you would need a valid payment option (credit card/Paypal) on file in order to purchase avatar items. Currency from a prepaid card would not be seen as a valid payment option for that content unless you're making the purchase from a 360.

When you add currency to your account, you will see the balance when you try making a purchase. You can also check your balance at
Sign in to your Microsoft account.

 

so, i have to use paypal or a credit card to get free/paid avatar props? sorry, but i think that's wrong. i can't have/use either so i'm out of luck. i hope it changes someday. is there such a thing as a prepaid credit card with a certain limit on it? i
don't suppose i could use one of those.

 

Prepaid credit cards are hit and miss. Some might work and some might not. You'd have to make sure they will work with online purchases and you would have to register them online. Prepaid cards with a specific amount would be considered more of a gift card
and would not work.

 

2 things:

1st: i have an atm card. can that be used as a payment method in the xbox avatar store? i have a credit union acct., i believe. not sure if it's checking and/or savings, or what. i cash my checks there.

2nd; if i want to buy avatar props would i just buy an xbox gift card for $15.00, $25.00, etc.?

 

If the card has a credit card logo, like Visa or Mastercard, you should be able to add it as a valid payment option.

As already stated, you would need to make the purchase from a 360 to use the currency from an Xbox gift card.

 

my atm card says visa on the front. it says debit, too. i've no idea how to, via my xbox one, link my atm card to my microsoft acct., or whatever i link it to. how do i buy avatar props, that cost money, with my atm card? i thought i'd need to purchase
xbox gift cards for that. sorry for all of my confusion. i'd call xbox support to walk me through the whole process but i don't talk well on the telephone and i type too slowly for chat.

 

You should be able to add your card to your account at
http://commerce.microsoft.com.

 

can i email someone at commerce.microsoft.com and ask questions? i don't know what to do, exactly. i hope this message posts as i typed it using my xbox one.

 

Support does not have an email. Just click "Payment & Billing" at the top of the page, then choose "Payment options". Then you should see a link that says "Add payment option". Follow that link and add the information it asks for.

 

can i do it through my xbox one? is there any info. i'll need from my local credit union, or wherever? i have people who handle my finances and would know my financial info.
