Avast marked a game pass game as a virus.

Hey guys, so I've already tried searching this up on the web, but there are no similar problems to this and I'm concerned.

So pretty much I downloaded Hypnoscape Outlaw on a new computer which is literally a game on Game pass and I'm installing it via the official game pass app.

I had already installed Hypnoscape Outlaw on loads of computers in the past, which is why I am now scared I've infected all of them.

Avast (a well known antivirus) which I had marked the game as a threat and blocked me from playing it. It said "Threat Blocked, we blocked Hypnos.exe because its infected with IDP.Generic. Do I say this is a false positive or could it actually be a virus?

avast always flags IDP.Generic you can ignore it.

I have just downloaded the game via Game Pass in the Xbox App and it downloads, installs and runs without issue. i use Windows Defender and it didn't flag anything up so, as noted above, it is a false positive. Sometimes 3rd party AV programs can be over-sensitive when it comes to .exe files

This happen quite often. No, it isn't a virus and you have nothing to worry about. You should add the file to the exemption list so it doesn't get deleted by the Antivirus making the game unplayable.

10.99 is gamepass ultimate subscription, there is no worm, if you have unrecognised payments then contact Microsoft and they will sort it, this common thing happens when people game share and share their account with others who then add charges to the accounts either by accident or maliciously.

After everything i've tried I decided to uninstall Avast anti virus and just run windows 10 anti virus and its worked. No more 0x80070005.

If you're running Avast, give it a go.
