Automatic upload/sync to cloud

Is there any way to disable my saved games from bring uploaded to the cloud?

If not, can you tell me how often it synchronizes, and what the average file size for a saved game is?

I'm on a 20 gb allowance, and I'd like to conserve all the precious data I can for multiplayer sessions.

Patches and big downloads are dealt with at a friend's house, using his unlimited data cap.

Question about XB1 Cloud Saves

Is there any way to disable automatic cloud syncing with saves?

In other words, are we able to manually upload/download saves to the cloud?

If not, what is the refresh interval for the cloud sync for the game saves?

 

Noob questions about save files

1) Yes. Always. Even if you deleted the save off your console, when you reinstall the game it'll sync with the cloud and download your save.

2) It automatically does it. Every time you play a game while connected to the internet it's constantly saving to the cloud. That's why the game syncs every time you load it up.

3) No limit.

 

Afaik know there is no way to disable syncing. Also I think the files are che4cked usually when starting a game and also when closing it again.

The savegame files are not that big, mostly about less then 10MB. If you go to the games and app tile and pick a game and then go to "manage game" you can see the savegame file at the far right displayed with its size.

I haven't picked up the console yet. The cloud syncing was a major concern of mine, and a deciding factor. I'm glad to know it doesn't sync after every save, which is what I was lead to believe. That wold be an unnecessary data drain.

It really is a shame that there's no way to disable the sync, and I hope Microsoft gives us the ability to do so in a future update.

One last question, if you don't mind. I'm not too familiar with cloud storages and how they manage incoming/outgoing data. When the cloud syncs, is the ENTIRE file uploaded again, or just the data that has been changed since the last synchronization? I'm
seriously hoping it's the latter

 

I think that the whole file is uploaded. But when you start a game, both copies are compared and only if the version stored in the cloud is newer, it will be downloaded. So usually it's only uploading save games files.

Btw with the September version of the dashboard you get a bandwidth meter so you can monitor your bandwidth usage for each day.
