Automatic Updates Not Downloading or Installing

I've had my Xbox One since launch, and despite leaving the console powered ON all the time, it has never downloaded or installed any type of update automatically. I have the "Automatically Install Updates" box checked, along with Instant On, and Quickly
Resume Games. At first, I tried powering the console off regularly, but I got tired of starting it back up and having to install updates. For the past few months, I've tried leaving the console powered on, and only shutting the controller off when I'm done
playing, but every time there's an update (either a game update or a console update), I get prompted to "Start Update", the it downloads it and installs it. Am I missing something obvious, or is the new console less automated than the 360?

DRM wasn't all digital though. I do all my updates and game downloads while sleep or at work so I don't get the poos with how slow it is. But yours is pretty slow. Good thing that background downloading is more automatic this time around and you can start
playing even if it hasn't finished downloading installing yet.

 

3.7GB update for Xbox One?

I think it's just preview members, right now. I have my Xbone set to instant on, so the update was downloaded and installed automatically.

 

Hi Omatsei, Try doing a power cycle by holding the power button on the front of the console until it turns off and then unplug it from the outlet. After 30 seconds plug it back in and power back on and hopefully everything should be back to normal

 

Thanks, I tried it... just waiting for an update to be released so I can see if I'm prompted to install it.

 

Did you get the latest update? If it's available it will be in settings, system and down at the bottom under update controller. It's update 1408 if your in the preview.

 

total crap about holding the power button, yes it resets the machine but still won't automatically update games. What a pile of crap console, last one i get from microsoft, they don't give a toss about their products or the customers who buy them.
