  1. automatic subtraction from mastercard without any notice

After checking my mastercard account I noticed that over the past months, a high number of payments have subtracted automatically from my mastercard,
for a total of 1118,66 euro.

I was shocked when noticing this and discussed this with my minor son (age 14). We had agreed that he could buy two games with my mastercard (EA
Sports Fifa 17 and Steep, both ordered on 25 March 2017). Furthermore, Xbox Live had been activated in January 2017. We can understand that we misunderstood the Xbox Live subscription, that it was not a single activation but to be paid monthly. What we don’t
understand is that the details of my mastercard were kept into the system and without any notice payments were done automatically for games and FIFA points. There had been no warning about the fact that these games and points had to be paid. Furthermore, it
would have been logic to have a confirmation code entered before proceeding with the payment. In addition, since we are divorced and therefore the kids are not always with me, we noticed that payments were even done on days he was not even playing on his Xbox.
The Xbox was shut down on these days. So, we really don’t understand how this could happen. We feel like we have been betrayed.

In the meantime the mastercard has been cancelled. No more payments can be done anymore.

Can you please further clarify the following:

    -
How is it possible payments are done without any notice / confirmation code ?

    -
Can you clarify why payments can be done even when the device is turned off ?

    -
Most important, can we get the money back ? We are fine to pay for the 2 game (EA Sports Fifa 17 and Steep, both ordered on 25 March 2017) and Xbox
Live subscription. However, not for the other points and games. We have already contacted an organization specialized in Belgium in companies betraying costumers (Test Aankoop). They agreed that this is not the right way of treating customers, especially for
    games focused on minors.

    :)

Which type of Prepaid credit card does Xbox accept?

    Zombie Thread FTW!

BTW, Vanilla Mastercards work, you have to add your postal code, and use it via Paypal, since it doesn't accept automatic recurring billing like MS likes to do.

An Xbox Live subscription will automatically renew each month until you
    cancel the subscription
. When you purchase content on the Xbox or Microsoft Store, you should get an email sent to the registered email address of the purchasing account. If not, you can always check your account's order history
    and your card's statements.

From what it sounds like, you child may have purchased more than what you both initially agreed to pay with the card (in the case of the FIFA points). Next time, consider prepaid codes instead of using a credit card - they're much easier to deal with. There
    are prepaid code cards for
Xbox Live Gold time, and you can add money to a "Microsoft Balance" on the account with

    Xbox Gift Cards
to pay for games. Codes can be immediately ordered online, or prepaid cards can be found in many retail stores. There's also cards for

    FIFA points
    .

For billing disputes and other similar questions, you will need to contact Xbox Support (via phone or chat), as well as contact your bank to help hopefully get those charges reversed.

Because purchases can be made on other devices, such as a P.C., tablet, phone, etc.. Auto-renew is tied to your account, not the physical X Box; you could throw your X Box away and you'd still be charged...at least until you cancel what you signed up for.

  6. Two games and live annual subscription should be around 200 EUR or so, I think.

Would FIFA points be 900 EUR?

I mean this is serious money for like 20 games.

Did other people crack the account, or a child being a bit careless with login stuff?

I would surely look into parental stuff, and also setting purchase limitations to gamertags etc. There are plenty things to control that.

And why buy games on Live Store - you could buy on disk at retailer for half that money?

Sounds to me that either your son has bought stuff without you know about it, or your credit card details have been stolen, I mean two games and Xbox Live subscription will not come to over a thousand Euros, the absolute maximum it would be is roughly one
    hundred and fifty Euros.

Regarding your three questions though, to get some sort of confirmation code/notice you need to set up parental controls on your Xbox, if I remember right one of them is that any time you want to buy something from the Xbox Store you have to type in your
    password.

As for why payments are done when the device is turned off, I know myself that I can buy something on say a Friday, but it wont show up on my account for a few days. If this isn't the case it only really points more to your credit card details being stolen
or your account being hacked and a third party buying stuff using your card details.

As for if you can get your money back, it all depends if this is credit card fraud or not. If it is then just contact your credit card provider and say its fraudulent use. If it isn't, then your a little out of luck as you wont really get your money back.

The other thing to do is to sign into your Xbox Live account on a PC, then click on "Services and Subscriptions" from there you'll be able to find an option called "Purchase History".

If you click on that you'll be able to find out exactly what was purchased and hopefully be able to find out if it was your son buying Fifa coins (they can be really expensive) or possibly fraudulent activity.

  9. Interesting... Lesson!

Never give your credit, debit or other info, including Paypal to Micro-to-Macro Soft.

Better to shop locally for XBL Gold, Gift, Money and Game cards/codes. That way you keep MS out of your bank account.

  12. lol...

If you buy gold and agree to have it automatically renewed each month, complaining about it is stupid. (most who buy gold cheap on MS don't know how to read the part that says it will be automatically be renewed unless they cancel it)

I don't have time to explain post to those looking for a way to blame evil MS.

    You're welcome again. lol

If you have kids and they run up your credit cards because they're (insert any word you like) and you get mad at MS because they charged your kid, your anger is going towards the wrong party. Start with your kid. Duh.

    You're welcome yet again. lol

You can spin it all you want but MS isn't responsible for any thing I've read in this post.

Waiting for another reply that's laughable.

Safegards, so if you have to run to the bathroom you're 2 year old can't accidentally buy things.

I guess having to reinter you CC info to confirm you are actually YOU and not a 2 year old is too much of an inconvenience in this 'modern age.' lol

You are LEGALLY entitled to a Transaction Reversal. In New Zealand and Australia, our laws protect against this. Americans may not think so. But LAW overrides contracts with companies, because laws are made by governments. Contracts are made by companies,
not governments. Governments are higher than companies. Microsoft does not make the Law. You applicable laws and legal rights are made by your countries government. Sure it may be wiser to make sure you safeguard your info more better. Xbox 1 has a security
feature where if you want to purchase something on your console, you can program it to ask for a pin or your password, before the transaction is approved. If you look under Microsoft's terms of use, it clearly states:

    8. APPLICABLE LAW.

    • a. United States and Canada. If you acquired the application in the United States or Canada, the laws of the state or province where you live (or, if a business, where your principal
place of business is located) govern the interpretation of this agreement and applies to claims for breach of it and all other claims (including consumer protection, unfair competition and tort claims) regardless of conflict of laws principles.
    • b. Outside the United States and Canada. If you acquired the application in any other country, the laws of that country apply.
