Automatic sign-in WITHOUT Kinect?

I for one am very disappointed that, because of Kinect, I can no longer privately murder someone while watching television without being spied on. Also, the voice command "Xbox, kill Bob" totally doesn't work. What a ripoff.

But seriously, folks. In order for the system to be "spying" on you, they would either need an incredible number of staff actively monitoring the live video and audio feeds of millions of gamers across the nation, or they would need storage space equivalent
to the planet-sized computers in the Hitchhiker's Guide. It's just not feasible, people truly are worried about nothing, here.

If the argument is not that they are doing it all the time, but rather COULD be doing it if a court or law enforcement agency ordered them to spy on specific people, then I guess my number one suggestion would have to be... y'know... don't do illegal stuff....

Hey Chuck! I understand that might be what it seems like on the surface, but I think the reason the auto-sign-in was removed was because, on Xbox 360, auto sign-in required assigning a primary profile to the console. With Xbox One's family Gold plan, I think
the mindset is that having one profile set as a primary for auto-login would detract from the Family experience, because then it would be convoluted having to sign in other people manually. MS intends this to be a sort of "center of the home entertainment
system" device, in which case, more than one member of the household is likely going to be there. The only way to really do this, short of designing the system to automatically sign in every profile when first powered on, is with Kinect.

 

Now that MS has announced an Xbox One WITHOUT Kinect hopefully we can get an update to have auto sign-in without it. Also getting rid of that stupid indicator that says the Kinect is unplugged would be nice.

 

I guess they gonna add this in a future update and maybe even for those with Kinect plugged-in

 

Ya, still not going to happen.

The Kinect has nothing to do with the decision for that particular feature. You're still going to have to just save your password to the system and then select it in your profile manager to log in.

They're not ending Kinect support, they're just giving people another option to purchase a new system.
