Auto update question

Hello, I have a question about auto update and energy saving mode. Can I keep my console in energy saving mode and still enable auto download of console and app updates when console is shut off? The option to do this seems independent of power mode. Does
the console just download the update and then shut itself off? I really want the system all the way off when not using it. Thanks for any help.

I don't think Whitten is answering the question we are asking here and his tweet is alluding to the console auto updating software when in instant-on mode.

My question is my console is in instant mode on and auto update

so will my console get this update sometime today?

If you check Settings > System > Updates, you should see options (in checkboxes) to enable automatic updating.

From what I can tell by these options, only system updates are applied after the console is turned off, even when in energy-saving mode. Game/App updates can be automatically downloaded in the background, but only while the console is turned on.

Some people say that games and apps are automatically updated while the console is turned off in "Instant-On" mode, but I can't find any exact confirmation on this now.

"Under "Power and Startup" and then "Power Mode and Startup" there is an option to keep your games and apps up to date. I believe this is the option I was looking for, in case anyone else has the same issue"

Haven't tested it myself though.
