Auto Renewal trying to take money from Cancelled card

I have received 5 emails from Xbox support telling me that they have been unable to take the auto renewal fee for Xbox live.

I have a prepaid card to use but it will not accept this code as valid payment.

Please advise, though i will not pay twice for a subscription so paying on a credit card isn't and option

Is it normal for Microsoft to take payment from an auto renewal option from an expired credit card?

I have now cancelled the auto renewal but have still paid a years subscription until 2016.

xBox won't let me remove a credit card

I have a prepaid visa card attached to this account, and auto renewal is turned off. Although auto renewal is turned off it keeps trying to charge the card, and it is out of money.

 

Since they have attempted to charge you, you now have accrued a balance you have to pay off before you can continue using gold on that account. You cannot add a prepaid card until that balance is paid off. You can see the balance you owe at

It is up to you to turn off auto-renewal. Having an expired or cancelled card on file will not turn it off.
