  1. Auto Low Latency (ALLM) and FreeSync (VRR) bug

Hi! There have been a few threads about this issue last year. The issue involves that auto low latency doesn’t work properly while freesync (or vrr) is enabled one xbox one x. The issue seems to transend different TV models, meaning the issue in on the xbox
    side for sure.

RobertSteeleXY did a fantastic in-depth write up about this issue and posted in several threads linked below. I also want to thank him for his hard work and care.

one can see in his write up, not only does this occur on different TVs, but the actual specifications for these features say it should work.

I can add to this. I have a 2020 Samsung Q90T, and like his LG C9, the same exact issue occurs as described. On my tv, it initially says it turns off game mode when intended and then immediately reenables it. ALLM starts working again only when VRR/FreeSync
    is disabled.

I also considered hdmi 2.1. While these may be 2.1 features, the xbox one x does not support full 2.1 and is intended to work with older standards on supported TVs. His C9 has all 2.1, and therefore is unable to test 2.0. Unfortunetly, my tv has one 2.1
and the rest 2.0. Trying the different ports, the same exact issue occurs - no difference. Didn’t have high hopes for this but now we know.

Like him, I hope Microsoft will acknowledge and fix this relatively long-standing issue.

My question is, has anyone fixed this? And Microsoft, what’s going on here?

    Thank you!

    :)

Variable Refresh Rate greyed out with a AMD compatible Monitor (HP 27xq AMD FreeSync monitor)

    Hello,

VRR is supported via HDMI 2.1. The Xbox One X is the only console that has HDMI 2.1. Xbox One S has HDMI 2.0. This Fall 2020 the new Xbox Series X will also support HDMI 2.1 features like VRR, Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM) and up to 120fps support.

Allow variable refresh rate greyed out

    my bad, 65NANO95UNA
Well, the LG page of that particular model makes no mention of VRR which would usually indicate it is not a feature:

    https://www.lg.com/ca_en/tvs/lg-65nano95una

Edit: I have been looking around and none of the other NANO95 models have VRR either...the have ALLM (Auto low Latency Mode), not VRR

    Screen tearing Xbox Series X

Hi BobbyXVR, my name is Jhon, and will be a pleasure help you

Yes, the ALLM feature works if you turn it off on one of the devices and turn it on on the other.

ALLM, or Auto Low Latency Mode, is a feature that allows the TV to automatically switch to a low latency mode when an input signal from a compatible device is detected. This feature can help improve the gaming experience by reducing the delay between controller input and the action being displayed on the screen.

In your case, it seems that your TV does not support Freesync, which is a technology that also helps reduce input lag. Therefore, if you enable ALLM on both devices, the TV will try to switch to a low latency mode that is not supported by your TV. This can cause display problems, such as screen tearing.

To fix this issue, you can disable ALLM on one of the devices. If you turn it off on the Xbox, the TV will remain in its default picture mode, which should be supported by your TV.

Another option is to update your TV's firmware. There may be an update that includes Freesync support.

    best regards, Jhon

How do I find the motion enhancement/anti judder option in my TV?

Lol... Thanks but they don't know. It seems that when I disable VRR and ALLM from the TVs settings, it automatically unlocks the motion enhancement options. But if I enable VRR and/or ALLM either from my Xbox or the TV itself, then the motion enhancement setting disappears.

Isn't VRR supposed to unlock higher frame rates?

    This is really confusing 🤣

Xbox Series X Allow Dolby Vision/Dolby for Gaming and Allow Auto Low Latency Mode

Ok I have been playing with this for a while. My input on my TV Does indicate that TV setting have a new input description (came in a firmware update).

Now instead of being to select HDMI 1.4 or 2.0 or Auto, I now have Auto and Standard. On a 2.0 input with a 2.0 HDMI cable, on Standard "Auto Low Latency Mode" and on Auto "The best choice for what input device is used" When I select Auto there is still a check mark in standard for ALLM. Now is this meaning my TV has ALLM support? When I switched to streaming netflix on the xbox ALLM carries over as it turns off my streaming preference for viewing, rather it keeps Motion on (the soap opera effect) It keeps bright on high. So Every time I use the XBOX and switch medias (from gaming to streaming) I have to change settings EVERY time. I do not know why. I have TCL 55r617.
