Auto Detect HDMI Input

Hello everyone,

I just have a quick question in regards to the xbox one and auto detecting HDMI on my TV. When I turn my Playstation 3 on, the TV will detect that it's receiving a new signal on one of its HDMI ports and change to it. It does not, however, do that for the xbox
one. Is there a particular reason behind that? I figure HDMI is HDMI - Or, am I missing some setting on the Xbox One.

Perfect thanks I had hte same issue, after setting the input to HDMI instead of auto detect it started work.

Microsoft, for a change make some that works out of the box! Endless updates and no support or real fixes.

 

I think I found the answer. Playstation uses HDMI CEC. I'm guessing Microsoft hasn't implemented that at all. It wasn't implemented on the xbox 360, either; so it's probably not in the plans. Sucks because, although the IR Blaster works great for turning
everything on, it doesn't help if the TV was previously on another input.

 

Yeah I don't think HDMI CEC is enabled on the One. I'm assuming its because 95% of electronics out there don't support it yet, so they prioritized the blaster which is 100% supported.

 

When I had my old TV this used to always happen for all my consoles on HDMI including my 360. When I changed to a Samsung TV this stopped and I have no idea why. I think it's a brilliant but not 100% supported technology.

 

My TV seems to detect that I am using a Xbox One. Try setting HDMI manually instead of via auto detect.

 

Auto detecting a hdmi input doesnt require CEC i believe. Some tv's would just detect video being inputed and swicth to it, i believ it was possible even with RCA type conncetions. It just depend on if the tv manufators put the feature in. I know Westinghouse
put them in alot of tv's. My older tv would swap between ps3 and xbox 360 just fine. I havent used that tv with my xbox one tho and i also stopped using the auto swicth feature after a month mainly because it was a bit annoying sometimes xD
