Audio still cutting out after second Xbox one

So the first Xbox One I had the fans made a grinding noise which led to it overheating. Another problem it had was the audio cutting in and out randomly with no pattern. I returned that Xbox and got a new one today. I was playing it for a while until the
audio randomly cut out again. I'm a little stumped here...I've checked my settings, did a full reboot, and even changed HDMI ports. I can not figure out why this is happening again. If anyone has any ideas on how to resolve this, that'd be great.

    Thanks

    :)

The Raven - Legacy of a Master Thief

I downloaded the demo and after the first load point, the audio/sound kept cutting out than thought maybe it was the demo so I bought the full game but again after the first load point the audio/sound kept cutting out (extremely annoying)

It's just too bad there are no refunds

Unless you have been extremely unlucky and have received two Xbox One's with the same defect, id suggest the issue lies with your other hardware.

Have you tried using a totally different HDMI cable? And do you use the TV for anything else other than gaming on the Xbox? If so check the audio whilst just watching TV/DVD to see if it cuts out too.

are you only using the HDMI for audio? Are you using optical? Just clarifying.... As wizard said try another HDMI cable. Is it running directly to your TV? a receiver?

Do you have other HDMI equipment you could try like a blue-ray player?

Just to rule out possible problem with TV

To clarify, the HDMI cable is running from my xbox straight to my TV. I also tried another cable as well and still the same results. I watched TV for a little over 2 hours today on the same TV and didn't notice any audio cutting out. . Also, this may seem
bizarre, but would playing 1080p on a 720p TV have something to do with the audio cuts? I haven't tried playing my Xbox one at 720p yet as the idea just popped up.

If your tv is 720p then you would be better off setting the xbox to 720p. I dont know if it would have anything to do with the sound problems though.

You could also check the sound options in the settings app. see what they're set at and maybe try changing them. On my tv I get a choice between uncompressed stereo and dolby 5.1 and DTS. The uncompressed setting works best for me.

The only real way to test if it is your tv though would be to try another device that uses HDMI. Although to be honest if you have the same problem on 2 xbox ones already then I would say it is your tv. For some reason it might not be fully compatible with
the xbox one or alternativily it has a faulty HDMI mode.

The only option I can choose is uncompressed. When I get home, i'll hook up my 360 to HDMI and see if the problem persists. Will post an update soon.

Also, try to hook up your TV through your Xbox One, see if the audio cuts out there. That might help narrow the issue down. If the audio doesn't cut out it is another issue, perhaps HDD reading related when games can't read the HDD quick enough to play audio
properly, if audio does still cut out but not when the TV is plugged into the TV directly then it could be HDMI port/cable related.

Also, try plugging your Xbox One into a different HDMI slot on your TV if you have multiple and see if it is the TV port causing the cutting out.

You really shouldn't run your Xbox One at 1080 if your TV is only 720p. You won't see any improvements and are just adding extra work onto the Xbox for no real benefit. If you switch TV to 1080p later then by all means change the console setting.

After testing HDMI on my 360, I can now say that it's not my Xbox one. I got a few audio cuts when playing Dark Souls on my 360. I guess the problem lies within my TV's HDMI ports. Looks like I'll be getting a new TV soon. Thanks for all the responds.

@o HydRauLiX... before you trash the set, take a look at the pins on HDMI port on the TV. I have seen before some got bent for whatever reason. Straightened a few out before with some needle nose pliers and a bit of love. Also, if your TV has another HDMI
port, try that also just to rule out a bad port.

Also, more times than I can count, HDMI cables not seating right. Not necessarily just the possibility of a bad HDMI cable, but how the cable is positioned on the tv and its very own weight, or drag on it pulls it down just enough to lose a proper connection.
Last, your TV's firmware. Make sure that is current. Anyways, just some thoughts for ya I have seen cause this. Good Luck to you!!

@Primitive: The pins on both HDMI ports seem straight. I've also tried the other HDMI port on my TV as well as different HDMI cables; always get the same result. As for the firmware, I don't think I've ever actually updated it. The TV is quite old, from
early 2007 when LED's started to become popular. Would there even be an updated firmware for such an old TV?

  15. ^^, that's a good question. Trying to see your model above yet don't see it. It's still possible, yet if it was more than likely it would be in the form of a download and done with a USB stick.. yet lets move on from that for the moment. I had a thought
that just crossed my mind. Are you using the TV's own speakers or running through to a AVR?.. Guessing here since I don't see above in previous posts a AVR mentioned, it sounds like that you may be using internal TV's speakers. My thoughts are that maybe you
have a internal speaker issue that cuts in and out, perhaps a short of some kind. I'm not sure how much more you want to troubleshoot, but if I had that TV here I would be inclined to hook it up to say a AVR perhaps through an optical cable, or seeing as
it is an older set, analog maybe the only option you have, but my thoughts are to ultimately bypass those internal speakers and see if that cutting out still occurs thru another source.

You could even if you don't want to buy a new TV, is to grab a AVR and run the X1's optical into the AVR bypassing the TV all together and just use the TV for Video only. Anyways, just some thoughts for you to ponder over. I build and trouble shoot computers/electronics
for a living, so I rarely give up without completely trying all avenues, even to a point of ripping my hair out, LoL.

Good Luck and if you ever have any questions, just ask. All the best!!
