Audio Settings using SPDIF and Turtle Beach X12 / DSS2

    Afternoon all,

Hope you are all well and safe.

I have a question. I'm using a Turtle Beach DSS2 with Turtle Beach X12 headset.

I connect the DSS2 using SPDIF audio and I've set the sound options to Bitstream out and the format to be Dolby Digital. The DSS2 has a surround sound virtualising system so it sounds great.

The DSS2 does need power so it's connected via USB to power the device and a proportion of that power then goes to the headset.

The X12 headphones then have three cables, a USB (for power although I think it might have the ability for speech to passthrough), a headphone cable 3.5mm jack and then it's got a separate 3.5mm jack for speech.

So, what I'm trying to learn is how does speech audio work in relation to the xbox one console and/or the wireless controller?

I've not seen any settings in the console menu so can anyone help me?

How does one set up speech audio on xbox one?

    Thanks

Additional: My current assumption is that I need to purchase the Stereo Headset adapter for the controller along with a talkback cable.

I then connect the adapter to the controller, connect the talkback cable from the adapter into the Input on the X12's and then I get the audio via the SPDIF and that speech then passes through to the Xbox via the USB connection.

    Rich

    :)

If you have an Xbox 360 Slim* connected to your home theater system (HTS) via an HDMI cable, you will be able to hear the game audio through both your DSS2-upgraded headset and your HTS using
the standard setup procedure. To do this:

    1. Connect the included digital optical cable to the Digital In jack on the DSS2, and to the S/PDIF jack on your Xbox 360 Slim (or the Digital Output jack on a PS3).
    2. Keep the HDMI cable connected to your game console and HTS as normal.
    3. If you have a WIRED headset, connect the headset's green 3.5 mm plug to the headphones jack on the front of the DSS2. Then, connect the headset's USB plug (if it has one) to the USB port on the front of the DSS2.
    4. Done! You should now be able to hear the audio from your game console both in your headset and through your HTS. You can adjust the headset volume and the HTS volume independently of one another.

The best way to get your x12's to work on your xbox one is the DSS2 surround sound adapter from turtle beach

Official Xbox One Stereo Headset Adapter with earforce dss 2

If your headphones are anything like mine (Turtle Beach X12) then the Optical cables goes from the Xbox One into the DSS2 your headset plugs into the DSS2 then the talkback cable goes into the headset adapter. Now make sure you turn down the game volume
on the headset adapter as you want SS not Stereo. You should be ready to go after that.

    Headset

I Would suggest a Turtle Beach X32 paired with the DSS2 Dolby Surround Sound, this is cost effective and gives you amazing sound for game audio, chat, music & movies.
