  1. Audio Setting for Bose Cinemate 130 Soundbar? Bitstream or 5.1 uncompressed?

What should I be setting when using this soundbar with Xbox One?

I usually use 5.1 uncompressed, by some tv stations have no audio (i have to flip back and forth to get audio on stations) and certain apps like MLB tv has no audio, just video. But with bitstream it seems to work fine. Just not sure what I am loosing
by using bitstream (hdmi connection) over 5.1 uncompressed.

    Link to the soundbar.

  2. Dolby Digital decode & audio options

It does or at least the next update does.

    Settings-->Display & sound:

    - Digital Audio:

    1. HDMI audio (stereo uncompressed, 5.1 uncompressed, 7.1 uncompressed, Bitstream out)

    2. Optical audio (Off, Stereo uncompressed, Bitstream out)

-if u select Bitstream out (DTS Digital Surround, Dobly Digital)

    5.1 surround sound audio

I have my X1 hooked up to my TV via HDMI and I have an optical cable going from my X1 to my Bose system. My settings for audio is set so HDMI audio is off(because I don't use that for sound, just picture) and bitstream out is toggled with DTS as well. The
screen on my Bose system shows that DTS 5.1 is enabled but only plays through 2 speakers instead of all 5.

I am not a very audio tech-savvy person so be gentle.

    Thanks

Audio Setting for Bose Cinemate 130 Soundbar? Bitstream or 5.1 uncompressed?

    Hi BoDEAN96,

The use of bitstream or stereo uncompressed really depends on your hardware and how exactly you have everything set up. 5.1 uncompressed is usually a better quality, and sometimes works where bitstream does not (and vise verse). Bitsteam is Dolby Digital
and DTS 5.1 and is compressed a bit. You may notice the sound difference by watching uncompressed bluray movie. TV stations through your cable are already compressed a bit, so you'll likely not see the difference.

  5. Ok. Hopefully they fix in the preview update (the issue has been since June) the sound dropping with 5.1 uncompressed, so I can go back to using that full time. Maybe work on supporting and being more compatible with Bose Soundbars too.

    Hi BoDEAN96,

If this has only been happening since the Update Preview (which is going to be buggy, that's why it's a preview), then I would suggest you post in the Preview Forums below.

5.1 Uncompressed audio via HDMI connection

It isn't possible for any TV to pass through uncompressed 5.1 audio but they can pass through Dolby Digital 5.1 format which is compressed.

What you need to do is tell the Xbox to output Bitstream audio via HDMI and set the Bitstream format to Dolby Digital. If you do this your TV will be able to send the 5.1 surround audio to your soundbar via its optical cable.
