    Hello

    I have an Xbox One X which is connected to a BenQ projector by HDMI, via a Sky sound bar.

    So the HDMI goes to the sound bar and then another HDMI goes from the sound bar to projector. All works well.

    However I also have four ceiling speakers which I would like the sound to come out of as well (at the same time as the sound bar).

    Is it possible to have the sound playing through the HDMI and also through the optical output at the same time. My amplifier does not have an optical input so I have bought an optical to RCA converter but when I plug it in nothing seems to happen.

    Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    That should work. You have to make sure it is set up on your Xbox One X.

    Settings > General > Volume & audio output

    Make sure HDMI audio and Optical audio are both on

    Hey AnthonyWakefield1,

    From what I understand the Xbox cannot output audio in that particular way. It can output audio through a HDMI and to headphones through an aux cable.

    I would suggest trying to get an amplifier that supports the optical input.

    Not surprisingly, this is wrong. The AV cables block the HDMI port because the console should not have two video outputs active at the same time. Microsoft sells a bundle of an HDMI cable and an audio-only cable/dongle, which has red/white analog outputs
    and an optical digital output. The 360S doesn't need the special audio-only dongle because it has optical output built-in, but if you needed analog audio in addition to the HDMI cable you'd need that audio adapter.
