Audio output to home audio receivers

Will xbox one and series x finally get a patch to fix known issues with audio output to home av receivers. The largest issue is the dropped audio. The xbox for some unknown reason stops sending audio signal completely at moments of silence and thus when audio starts playing again the receiver takes at least a second before it can output sound. The most demonstrative of this is pausing a movie or the menu screen. Many times when starting playback after pausing the first second or two of audio is missing bc the xbox completely turns sound output off during the silence causing the av drives to turn off. When audio starts again the drivers have to prep and turn on before able to playback. This also happens on the menu screen often giving no audio feedback to menu surfing or selection at the first of use after non use for only a short while.

All that is needed to remedy this is for xbox to send a constant audio stay on signal so that the av receiver drives stay prepped to play while the system in on.

First time 360 owner needs help with 5.1 Audio

Found this digging through Logitech Info, hope it helps!

The XBox 360 only outputs 5.1 over HDMI or optical, so what you need is to convert from that to the 3.5mm 5.1 channel audio line-in that your speakers need. A converter box may be very expensive; however, you should be able to find an audio/video receiver
(also called a "home theater" receiver) that will take HDMI inputs and output the audio in different formats (i.e. output your audio to a 3.5mm and let you still use HDMI for video).

Stereo signal in a 5.1 stream

    Hi Darkstar,

The Xbox is working 100% as it should be. If the Xbox source signal is 5.1 i.e a game, then the audio stream to the receiver is 5.1 and the receiver will output 5.1 audio to the speakers. However if the Xbox audio source signal is 2.0 i.e music, then the
stream to the receiver is 2.0 and the receiver will not magically output 5.1 audio to the speakers.

This situation will happen for HDMI or optical using DTS or Dolby decoding etc. The Xbox will not simulate 2.0 up to 5.1. You will need to use one of the surround effects (simulation) on your receiver to scale the 2.0 audio to 5.1 audio. Sorry its not what
you want to hear, but this is how it works :)

After installing late November update, No sound

Sounds like a problem with the HDMI cable. Is it direct to the TV or through a home theater system and then the TV? If it is home theater you may need to run a digital audio / firewire cable for the audio to function into the receiver.

If you're direct to a TV check you system audio output settings from the Xbox dashboard far right system option. With an HDMI cord you'll ideally want to use Dolby output and let the device it is connect to decide if it will use Dolby or downgrade to a 2
    channel R/L stereo mode.

Hopefully this helps you out a bit.

    No audio to EXTERNAL Speaker

Hi, check out this link please.

    support.xbox.com/.../configure-audio-settings

    In particular the following section.

    Configure the console audio settings

If you’ve already connected your Xbox One to a home theater or sound system, it’s time to configure the audio settings on your Xbox One. Here’s how:

1.Scroll left from Home to open the guide.

    2.Select Settings.

    3.Select All Settings.

    4.Select Display & Sound.

    5.Select Audio output.

6.Under DIGITAL AUDIO, select either HDMI audio or Optical audio, based on the type of cable you use to connect your console to the audio receiver or TV.

7.Choose the option that applies to your system.

I tent to turn HDMI audio off when using the optical audio cable.

As a side note if you're connecting the optical audio cable to your Tv optical audio connector hoping to get audio from the Xbox it won't work as the optical audio connectors on TV's are output only not input.
