    Audio options not available after switching from headphones to headset.


    Hi,

    Noticed recently when i switch from using headphones back to using a headset the audio options available by pressing the xbox button and scrolling right are no longer available.

    The problem being I usually have my mic turned off when using headphones, but when i switch to headset the next game or next day the option to turn it back on doesn't exist so i have to plug the headphones in, go to the audio option, switch on the mic again
    then unplug the headphones, plug in headset.

    Have i missed something? the xbox has a new dash and i have a new controller (instead of the day one with a headset adapter.)

    So maybe I just havent found the options?

    xbox one stereo compressed or bitstream out help

    Shouldn't have any effect on the audio coming from the chat adapter. The available audio settings should only effect the HDMI audio and optical out audio.

    In game audio options will effect the audio quality of headsets or headphone using the chat adapter as the audio source though.

    Wearing headphones and Xbox1 headset choose where headset audio plays from

    Wearing headphones and xbox1 headset; determine where the audio from team/squad chat comes from. Why? Because, while wearing both headset and headphones, the headset is not next to ear; therefor I can not hear my squad/team chat. With the 360 I could choose
    weather the audio came from headset or headphones OR BOTH! So on the next update, xbox 1 needs to allow me to determine where my squad/team chat plays from.

    There is also the option to connect your headphones via Bluetooth.

    I hope this answers your question.
    I have the Elite controller, and you can NOT connect your headphones via Bluetooth.

    Also, the Elite controller has the same 3.5mm audio jack as the other controllers. As the sound is transmitted to the controller digitally, and then turned into an analogue signal, you won't hear a difference.

    You'll get the most audio improvements by choosing "Windows Sonic" as an audio format for your headphones, or if you're willing to pay money for the Dolby Atmos for Headphones app, you can also activate Dolby Atmos for your headphones.

    But the overall sound quality is mostly dependent on the speakers built into your headphones than the actual audio jack in the controller.

    Also to "defend" the headphone jack:

    I use a Plantronics RIG 400HX headset. It has a volume slider and mute switch in it's cable, so you can adjust the volume and mute the microphone with the flick of a switch.

    And since Plantronics is known for making professional headsets that are used in callcenters and other professional environments, the Plantronics headset is also comfortable to wear for extended periods.

    your bluetooth headset with mic is designed for audio and talking via bluetooth, the cable that you can plug into your headset and then to the controller only enables audio not mic. lots of bluetooth headsets and headphones are the same, the option to plug in a cable is for audio only.

    Your headphones are good, tried to check all console audio options with the headset? There are options to eliminate noise and background noise, I have a Razer Kraken Essentials and the audio is perfect.

    Here they are so far.

    -Chat mixer- reduce the volume of other sounds by 50%

    -Party chat output-headset

    -Hmdi audio- stereo uncompressed

    -Bitstream format is switched off

    -Allow passthrough is switched off

    -Headset format- windows sonic for headphones

    -Using hdmi audit headset is switched off.
