Audio only works through controller now, and not through speakers?

So I plugged headphones into my controller, and after unplugging them, the audio no longer works from the amp/speakers.

Still works through headphones/controller though.

When I navigate to Settings/General/Volume & audio output/Set up TV & A/V control, HDMI shows "Not connected".

It's odd because it is, or at least the HDMI is running from "Out" to the A/V receiver.

I'm running the Xbox and multiple other devices into an A/V receiver, so the receiver is doing the switching.

I'm confused because I haven't changed a thing, and things were working perfectly until I plugged headphones into the controller...

Hey dumb question but try unpluging and re pluging your hdmi cable because sometimes when I plug my wire that connects party audio before my wire that controles game (I have both) it dosent proudce any game sound and probally just has to do with how the
software detects the adio and hdmi ports.

This cannot be correct? how can it be a bug to only want to play audio through a headset and not through both headset and soundbar/speakers? you have always been able to choose the option to only play through a headset and turn off the output via speaker, since the September update you no longer can.

what possible use case would there be to play audio through both speaker and headset?

There shouldn't be a delay...I get no delays on audio when running my headset through the controller.

Am curious: Why are you running the speakers through the controller? Would it not be better to run them through the monitor? Far as I know, all monitors without speakers have a 3.5mm headphone/speaker port to plug them in.

Hello everyone

My xbox is connected to my onkyo (HT-R550) with a optical cable. With movies i get sound through all speakers but with games i only get sound through the front and surround speakers but not the center channel speaker.

Xbox audio settings :

Optical audio out > bitstream

Bitstream format > dolby digital

Now i have tried switching to DTS but the center speaker still does not produce any sound.

The only way i got the center speaker to work was when i switched to stereo uncompressed but i am not pleased with the overall sound quality.

My question is is it normal for games not to produce sound through the center channel speaker when a xbox is connected with a optical cable to a receiver and dolby digital is selected on the xbox?

To clarify:

You have a new laptop with built-in speakers

You have a set of external speakers which are plugged into the laptop

The audio won't play through the external speakers and is only being played through the laptop speakers

Correct?
