Audio on both Headset and TV Speakers

I just bought a Xbox One X and when I plug in a headset to the controller the audio is on both the TV and headset. How do I make the audio only output to the headset plugged into my controller? BTW I
have tried different controllers changing the party chat settings and audio outputs settings and nothing changes it. I also tested the same controllers with the same headset on windows 10 and it behaves correctly. When the headset is plugged in the audio is
directed from PC to Headset and when unplugged the audio is redirected to the PC. Is the Xbox bad or is this normal behavior?

    :)

Audio on both Headset and TV Speakers

    Hi,

As some of the Ambassadors have mentioned already, the Xbox does not cut audio to the TV when a headset is connected to the controller. To stop audio from your tv simply mute the tv or go into your tv's settings (if its a smart tv) and change the audio out
from TV to Headphones. That way you won't be disturbing anyone with the sound coming out of your TV if you forget to mute it. Hope this suggestion helps :)

    Happy Gaming!

    Hello Viking!

I can tell you from personal experience using everything from the xbox issued headsets to my current Astro's, the tv will never mute when you plug in your headphones to the controller.

Here is guide for headphone setup:

    https://support.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-one/accessories/connect-compatible-headset

    and other options here: https://support.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-one/accessories/stereo-headset-set-up-troubleshoot

    Notes

    • You might also have game audio coming from your TV. If you don’t want to hear the TV, simply turn down the volume on your TV. (When you plug a headset into the adapter on your controller, sound from the TV is not automatically muted or adjusted.)
    • When you plug a compatible headset into your Xbox One Wireless controller, chat audio through Kinect is automatically muted.
I also hear audio through my TV

The Stereo Headset Adapter doesn’t know if you’re using your headset just for chat or for all audio, so TV audio is not automatically muted when you’re using the adapter. You must manually adjust your
    TV audio volume.

    Hope this helps!
