I have my new One connected with my DirecTV box going through it and then then One going into a Pioneer VSX53 AV receiver. Everything works and I get sound, but the display says PCM and I appear to only get stereo. I looked in setup and it says 7.1 HDMI.
The bitstream option is greyed out and not selectable. Neither my DirecTV nor any games play in surround sound. I check the "surround sound (beta)" box but that makes no difference. I also can't control the receiver with my voice, it keeps tell me to set it
up in TV setting but it already is set up. My immediate concern is the lack of surround sound. Even my 360 had booming surround sound in games but the ON just seems to play in stereo. Is something set up wrong?

    :)

  2. Audio Issues

Good Evening and such lads, I seem to find myself with quite the issue.

I have an xbox 360 arcade, which has had a few years of flawless history, working with my first 360's hard drive, and then one from a 360 elite that i got from a friend, and still use; i suspected something for a while, though
i cant confirm if its related or not.

Regardless of if ive used my HDMI cable or HDTV component cables, every once in a while, regardless of discs but Mostly on GTA IV and skyrim, and less so on most other games, the Audio would cut out for a second or two, and then
    everything would return to normal.

Recently though, today infact, the Audio has seemed to quit altogether, regardless of its input. ive tried restarting the xbox several times and switching the HDMI cable to several diffrent ports on my Dynex 32" 720p televison,
which from what i can tell doesnt have any audio issues of its own, since the cutting out problem mentioned before happened on different televisions as well.

I guess I could try using one of my Component cables or a different television, but im pretty much positive both are not the issue.

my guess is that the audio chip has either kicked the bucket or was faulty from the start, but I'm not sure; i didnt get any error message on the screen, and from the searching around ive done on the net, this doesnt seem to be
a verry common issue; Any help or suggestions? It'd really be appreciated, especailly since im going on a trip in a few days and it will be one of my only means of entertainment for a good part of it.

  3. Audio Issues

I recently purchased an xbox one from Microsoft online, and so far i love the console but ive been having an issue with the Audio. My Receiver (i have surround sound) doesnt let me use dolby digital at all. Im locked to multi channel audio and it sounds
awful. On the 360 Dolby Digital worked. Any ideas how to fix this?

You have everything set up fine. It seems the last update broke something with the surround sound. My 5.1 was working fine. It's really annoying because MS hasn't posted there's a problem. Sigh. Amazing how this wasn't found in testing.

After the second-to-last update, my surround sound (bitstream, Dolby Digital) worked awesome. However, this most recent update, that happened last week, completely wrecked my surround sound for my Xfinity cable box. My Sony receiver is reading Dolby Digital
5.1, but I'm only getting sound from the front 2 or 3 speakers (I have a 7.1 setup). From your posts, it would seem that you've had a similar experience. I just wanted to confirm my suspicions so that I would know I'm not alone! Hopefully they fix this
    thing (again)!!!

Hey Nutella TM! To troubleshoot, we usually recommend making the set up as simple as possible. Try removing the HDMI splitter and see if the issue sees any improvement. Post back and let us know how it goes!

G’day george! I removed the settop cable from the xbox, and there is now no sound coming from the Xbox at all when in a game. The Tv has only one HDMI cable, so I have the Settop box plugged into the Xbox and the Xbox plugged into the TV. But again, No
sound coming from the Xbox at all

Hello, it seems like narrator mode has been activated. To disable it press and hold the home button then press the menu button (button with the 3 lines). Then highlight the No option and press A on it to disable narrator mode.
