Audio Issues- Xbox One X Blu ray disk (not 4k)

I am having issues with my XBOX One X. I have played numerous 4k discs without any problems. Yesterday, someone brought a regular Blu Ray over and I tried to play it, but it would not play sound during the movie. The sound worked fine on the main menu page
for the blu ray, but as soon as the movie was played, it was silent. I had similar issues with the previews on that disc, but was able to resolve in the blu ray settings by checking the setting to send the sound directly to my receiver rather than decoding
it. I tried switching this on and off for the main movie but no luck. I also tried switching the audio options on the disc (Dolby atmos, etc.) but none of those made a difference.

I don't play regular blu rays often, but want the option to. Ideas?

Xbox One Blu-Ray Player, audio and video out of sync

Having lip sync problems on my Xbox one. Out of interest does anyone get the same issue on an Xbox one x playing blu ray and 4k blu rays?

I love everything about the Xbox S except for the 4k blue ray player. I bought 2 4k UHD disks, The Revenant and Star Trek Into Darkness. The Revenant had major audio sync problems which just come and go. Star Trek Into Darkness would not even load. Returned

Hopefully Microsoft will be able to fix this quickly.

Hello there NummThumz,

Sorry to hear that you're dealing with issues trying to play your blu rays.

If I were you, I would suggest trying perhaps to uninstall the Blu Ray player app on your console following the steps here on

Uninstall Xbox One games or apps to free hard drive space. and then reinstall it.

When you get a chance, give that step a shot and let us know how that helped resolve your issue.

Xbox One and Xbox One S are 1080P Gaming

Xbox One S will play 4K Blu Ray's

Xbox One X will play Game in 4K if they are Enhanced with 4K Support + 4k Blu Ray support

They Xbox One X will also Upscale on a 1080p screen so you will see some benefit of the Xbox One X

It seems to be a common problem with certain 4K UHD Blue Ray disks on the Xbox One and Series X.

My Xbox One X refuses to play certain 4K UHD Blue Ray disks as well and I know it's not the disks that's causing the problem as they play on my stand alone 4K Blue Ray player.

I saw it has HDMI 2.0B thingy on this site.

If say you connect an Xbox One X to your 4K HDTV, you should still be able to:

1. Download the YouTube and Netflix apps, onto your Xbox One X, and still be able to watch in 4k 60fps?

2. Use Xbox One X 4k Blu-ray player to watch 4k Blu-ray disc movies in 4k 60fps?

3. Play games on Xbox One X, in 4k 60fps?

Although both the Xbox One S and the Xbox One X can both stream 4K, only the One X is capable of true 4K gaming. I would recommend the XBox One X over the XBox One S because it only one that can truly do 4K gaming! The XBox One S can upscale 1080p games
to 4K but isn’t a real 4K console, although it can play Blu-Ray in 4K. The XBox One X is the first console to truly be able to stream 4K gaming, plus it has a Ultra HD 4K Blu-ray player!
