  1. Audio Issues with Xbox One

I have a couple audio issues with the Xbox One.

On the speaker side of the equation, my connection options are as follows - direct from my Xbox One to my Logitech Z906 speakers via Optical cable or from Xbox One to TV via HDMI, to same speakers via optical. I use the second option with surround sound
for my 360, and other consoles, and it works great. However, the Xbox One, even after the updates, still won't recognize anything but stereo though this input. So I have to use the first option, the direct connection. I'm irritated, but it works. The second,
preferred option, worked with my 360 just fine, and it was great not having to switch audio inputs when I wanted to play a game. Is there any information about an upcoming fix, or is there something I'm doing wrong?

On the headset side, I experience crackling through my Astro A50 headset in game audio when I use Dolby Digital. I get an echo on Dolby DTS or Stereo Uncompressed. I don't get the crackling on other consoles or my PC. I know Astro is working on a firmware
update for their device, but I think that's to fix chat audio issues, not game audio. And since I don't experience it on my 360 or PC, I don't think it's Astro's issue to fix.

    :)

    Video and Audio Delay HELP!

Sky HD box to Xbox One input, xbox output to tv. no splitters. I have no external sound system so delay is on hdmi audio. Sky HD direct to TV has no audio/video sync issues, audio delay is only present with Xbox one in the circuit.

    Audio Issues with Xbox One

What are your audio settings? Sounds like you should use Bitstream Dolby over HDMI if you want it to work like the 360.

  5. Here's an interesting update. On a whim, I tried disabling HDMI Auto Detect and instead manually selected HDMI and 1080p.

Before, I would just get an error to check my audio receiver. Now I can actually select HDMI 5.1 Uncompressed. I get audio with that setting. I can also select Bitstream Out now, which I couldn't before, but there's no audio, just silence.

5.1 PCM won't actually give you surround sound with your setup. The optical cable can only carry 2.0 PCM and your TV is downmixing it before sending it on. When you selected Bitstream Out over HDMI, did you also select Dolby? If you left it on DTS, it
sounds like your TV doesn't recognize DTS so it isn't passing anything on over the optical. Since you get surround sound from the 360 that way, it sounds like your TV supports Dolby and will pass that on over optical.

  7. I've tried both Digital and DTS on the bitstream option, no dice. So from what you're saying, it sounds like 5.1 Uncompressed is what I want for now, unless I added a proper receiver to the mix or got a new TV. That accurate?

That's really strange, what your is 360 set to? Might as well set the One to 2.0 Uncompressed to save your TV from downmixing it.

  9. I think I'm all set with the 5.1 Uncompressed. It seems to be working correctly. I figured out the echo problem - the xbox chat adapter sends game audio to the headset, so if you have a headset already providing audio, you have to set the chat balance all
the way to chat so you don't get double game audio. Problem is solved, I suppose. Thanks for troubleshooting it with me!

    Hello Celio,

Thank you for your post. I understand you are experiencing an issue with audio on your Xbox One. Besides HDMI and using the Xbox One Controller for audio, the Xbox One supports S/PDIF Optical audio output. For more information, check out this article:

xBox One Audio messed up through HDMI to RCA converter solutions?

    Hi FamCircle1H,

Thanks for your post. I understand you are experiencing an issue with audio on your Xbox One through your HDMI to RCA converter. Using converters like these are not recommended for use with an Xbox One because of formatting issues that can cause the Xbox
to misbehave. You may find success in adjusting the audio output format on the Xbox One. To change these settings, visit this page:

    I hope this helps.

    For headsets.
I might suggest the following. First consider hooking up audio to your TV, running optical from console to TV and headset wires to TV audio out. Secondly I would consider use of TB DSS optical to wired surround sound simulator unit. Friend and I are using
    each of these methods.

For stereos consider the DSS as an optical to analog converter and feed that output into an aux in channel on the stereo unit.
