  1. Audio issues in Xbox PC app

Okay, this is an intermittent issue we have had going on for a bit, and I am stumped on what to do next.

So I have a Windows 11 PC and use the Xbox PC app to play Halo and other games with my wife as she plays on the Xbox Series S in the other room. Something we have noticed is an intermittent issue where she will hear an echo of herself extremely clearly on her end when we are playing and are both using headsets. This issue seems to be resolved by either unplugging my headset or lowering the volume on my end significantly to the point where I can barely hear her in my headset. This issue seems to resolve for a bit, but then it can return without me increasing the volume or even touching my headset. This only happens to her side; I have never heard an echo.

I use a wired Microsoft brand Xbox headset

And she uses a wireless Microsoft Xbox headset.

    Xbox Wireless Headset | Xbox

Some of the Troubleshooting Issues we have already tried include:

    1. Confirmed both Xbox and PC are updated

    2. Confirm that the PC wired Headset is plugged in correctly

    3. Restart both Xbox and PC

    4. Uninstall/Reinstall Xbox PC App

    5. Check for updates on audio drivers for PC

    6. Update the wireless headset through the Xbox Accessories app

    7. Confirm that the audio input and output are set to the headset and are not default in the audio settings.

    8. Confirm the audio sensitivity threshold for the microphone is not too high on her end or mine

    9. Disable and reenable all audio drivers in the PC.

    10. Attempted to confirm that no third-party application (such as Nvidia Geforce) is messing with the audio, causing a conflict in the audio.

    11. We have also confirmed that this problem seems to be isolated to the Xbox PC application; when communicating on Discord, this issue does not seem to be a problem.

    12. We have attempted to use other headsets (wireless, USB, and other 3.5mm jack inputs) with the same issue.

    13. We have attempted to change my input to a Push To Talk, but it still becomes an issue if she talks shortly before I begin to talk.

Any other troubleshooting steps would be great!

    Thank you so much!!

    :)

PLEASE HELP (Xbox Game Bar and Xbox App on PC not picking up my headset even though every other app is, and Xbox Game Bar and record my audio and it works)

There are a few potential issues that could be causing your Xbox Game Bar and Xbox app on PC to not pick up your headset audio. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try to fix the problem:

    1. Check your headset and audio settings: Make sure your headset is properly connected to your PC and that the audio settings in your PC are correctly configured. You can check and adjust your audio settings by going to the "Sound" settings in the Windows Control Panel.
    2. Restart your PC: Sometimes simply restarting your PC can fix issues with audio not being picked up by certain applications.
    3. Update your audio drivers: Outdated audio drivers can cause issues with audio not being picked up by certain applications. You can check for and install updates for your audio drivers by going to the manufacturer's website for your audio device and downloading the latest drivers.
    4. Reset your Xbox app: If you're using the Xbox app to chat with friends, you can try resetting it to see if that fixes the problem. To reset the app, go to "Settings" > "Apps" > "Apps & features" and then select the Xbox app. Click "Advanced options" and then select "Reset."
    5. Repair the Xbox app: If resetting the app doesn't work, you can try repairing it. To repair the app, go to "Settings" > "Apps" > "Apps & features" and then select the Xbox app. Click "Advanced options" and then select "Repair."
If none of these steps help, you may need to contact Xbox support for further assistance.

Audio issues in Xbox PC app

    Hello WildBerryPoptart,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community.

We understand you are having issues with experiencing an echo issue with the Xbox PC app when using headsets. You’ve done a thorough job with the troubleshooting steps. Here are a few more suggestions you could try:

    1. Check the Audio Settings in the Xbox App: Make sure the correct audio devices are selected within the Xbox app itself. Sometimes, the app may not correctly identify the default audio devices set in the system settings. For your reference, you check this link: Troubleshoot game audio or video issues on Windows | Xbox Support

    2. Try a Different Audio Format: In the Sound settings on your PC, you can change the default format for your headset. This can sometimes resolve issues with audio quality or feedback.

    3. Disable Exclusive Mode: In the Sound settings, find your headset, go to Properties, then the Advanced tab, and uncheck “Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device”. This can help if other applications are interfering with the audio.

    4. Check for Interference: If the wireless headset is experiencing interference from other devices, it could cause issues. Try to minimize the number of active Bluetooth devices around.

    5. Reset the Xbox Game Bar App: Go to Windows settings > Apps > search for Xbox Game Bar app > click on it and select advanced options. After that, click repair and then restore, open the app and try again.

    6. Try adjusting the chat mixer settings on your Xbox Series S. This will allow you to balance the game and chat audio levels. To do this, press the Xbox button on your controller, then go to Profile & system > Settings > General > Volume & audio output > Chat mixer. You can choose from different presets or customize your own.

I hope these steps help you resolve the audio issue. If you still encounter any issues, please let us know and we will be happy to assist you further.

Have a great day and happy gaming!

Issues with one person hearing me in a Party.

Hi, my name is oskayra and I would be happy to help.

I am sorry that you are experiencing this inconvenience at this time. The issue you're experiencing with voice chat in your Xbox party could be due to a compatibility issue between the Xbox app on PC and the Xbox One. While cross-platform party chat is generally supported, there can be occasional glitches or compatibility issues that affect specific users or setups.

To troubleshoot this issue, you can try the following steps:

Update your devices: Ensure both you and your friend have the latest updates installed for Windows, the Xbox app on PC, and the Xbox One console software. Updates often address known bugs and compatibility issues.

Check audio settings: Verify that your microphone and audio output devices are correctly selected in both the Xbox app on PC and the Xbox One console settings.

Reset audio settings: Reset your audio settings to their default values. This can be done in the Xbox app on PC by going to Settings > General > Volume & audio output. On Xbox One, go to Settings > General > Audio.

Try a different chat mixer: Adjust the chat mixer settings to prioritize your microphone volume. This can be done in the Xbox app on PC by going to Settings > General > Chat mixer. On Xbox One, go to Settings > General > Audio.

Use alternative communication methods: As a temporary workaround, you could use an alternative communication method like Discord or a third-party voice chat app to communicate with your friend while the issue persists.

I hope you can solve this problem with the information I provide you, in case the problem persists, let me know.

    Best Regards,
    Oskayra

Xbox on pc audio issues cannot hear audio from behind

    Hello Split_Screener2,

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

I can see that you are having issues with Xbox on PC. This sounds like a possible audio configuration issue with the Xbox App for PC. Here are some steps you can try to fix it:

    1. Open the Xbox App for PC and go to Settings > Audio.

    2. Make sure that the output device is set to your Razer Kraken Tournament Edition headset and that the volume is not muted or too low.

    3. Check if there is an option to enable or disable surround sound or spatial sound in the audio settings. If there is, try toggling it on or off and see if that makes a difference.

    4. If the problem persists, you can also try updating your audio drivers and the Xbox App for PC. To do this, go to Start > Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and check for updates. You can also check for updates in the Microsoft Store app.

Please see: Troubleshoot game audio or video issues on Windows | Xbox Support

We're looking forward to hearing from you. If there are any inquiries about our description or if there are any misconceptions, do reply to the post.
