Audio headphones/Turtle beach streaming mic

Hi there,

Im trying to get better sound quality in online games and gave been very disappointed by the lack of choices for headphones for XBOX1 (unlike PC). Ive been made aware that the controller doesn’t have a quality amplifier, because anything powerful enough
to drive quality gaming headphones would drain the controllers battery.

I thought I could work around this issue by using the Turtle Beach streaming mic and plugging a high end pair of audio headphones into my AV receiver, sending the chat out to ‘speakers’ so i can talk to the mic and hear through the speakers, in this case
my headphones off my AV receiver instead if the speakers. It doesnt work.

can anyone tell me why it doesnt work? I know i can get a pair of gaming headphones wIth a boom mic like the Sennheiser game 1’s, split the cable and run the mic into the controller and the heaphones to the receiver, but I dont understand why i cant use
the stream mic and hear chat through the stereo?

can anyone explain why this doesnt work?

There are USB microphones that will work with the XBOX. One that works and is made for XBOX is the Turtle Beach Stream Mic. I personally have one and works great. Before purchasing it, I tried a BLUE Yet microphone which is USB and did not work. I
am not aware if there are others that work but the Stream Mic works. It also has a PC app for some fine tuning and a headphone jack for Mic monitoring and game audio

So what part isnt working? Is the audio not coming out of the speakers or is the mic not working? I know some mics might need software to run properly so plugging them straight into an xbox wont work and as far as the speakers did you go into the xbox
settings and switch the audio output to speakers instead of headset? Also the best thing i have found for a streaming headset/mic combo has been a turtle beach elite pro 2 headset and this headset doesnt have to be connected into a controller, it plugs into
a mix amp which plugs into the xbox.

Hi there,

When the audio headphones are plugged into the AV receiver, there is game sound, but I cant hear anyone in my party chat. I only see their gamertag show up in the chat overlay. They hear me thru the stream mic just fine. In Halo 5, setting audio to Speaker,
or to Headphones doesnt change anything.

If I plug the headphones into the Turtle Beach stream mic, its onboard amplifier does a decent job driving the audio headphones, since the stream mic is powered via USB, but the amplifier is low quality by comparison to my AV receiver. I only got the stream
mic so I could use my AV receiver to listen to my audio headphones in online gaming. I never expected or planned on using it to power the headphones.

Can I even can plug the Sennheiser game headphones into the AV receiver and the Mic into the controller now? If this stream mic is already connected to the XBOX via USB, and chat is only available when the headphones are connected into the stream mic and
both run to the XBOX wired via USB, is it correct to assume that PC gaming headphones with a built in mic also cannot be split (the mic connected to the controller and chat sound coming through the AV receiver)? Im starting to think both the headphones and
the mic must be connected to the controller together, communicating to the XBOX wirelessly, or ill just get game sound through the headphones and no chat like I am niw with this set up?

with a usb audio connection and the mic works great!
