    Audio from xbox stopped going to my headset. How do I fix it?


    I turned on my xbox (original xbox one) yesterday and the audio won't go to my headphones anymore. The audio will still go to my TV speakers and my headphones still work with other devices like my laptop and phone. The beep sound that occurs when I max out the volume setting from my headphone adapter on my controller still plays through the headphones but no other sounds.

    What I've already tried:

    -Unplugged and plugged in headset

    -Turned controller off and on with headset unplugged then plugged back in

    -Updated my controller

    -checked audio settings in xbox

    -restarted my xbox

    -hard reset my console

    -tried different headphones (same issue)

    -tried different controller

    I know the issue is not with my controller or headset. I use a standard xbox one wireless controller that is plugged in using usb and a Hyperx gaming headset. My xbox says there was an update yesterday (May 12th) which included something called "passthrough audio" so maybe that has something to do with it.

    Any suggestions are welcomed.

    Edit: I just talked to customer support and did a factory reset of my console but that didn't help either.

    My headset goes straight to the Xbox and I use the Elite Controller 2. The controller has no batteries to change. I was able to fix it by switching to the beta program.

    I have the exact same problem with my Plantronics headset. However, I'm in the preview program and have now switched from alpha to beta. It could be a new "feature".

    Im also in the preview program so i think the update may have screwed something up. I was able to get it working if i used batteries in my controller instead of using a usb connection which is strange.

    Problem is that I know my headset works just fine. I use the same headset to listen to music on my laptop. I've also tried using another headset and its the same issue.
