  1. Audio crackling / popping, left channel

    Hi Guys,

I have a Sony STR 1020 home cinema receiver with my Xbox One hooked up to it via HDMI1.

I have a 7.1 speaker arrangement, the fronts are floor standing tannoys the rest are satelites.

The problem i sometimes have this crackling and popping coming from the front left when i am playing netflix, blurays etc. through my Xbox. Noticed it in Doom recently too, but after 15 minutes or so it goes away.

My SkyHD+ is plugged into HDMI2 and that does not exhibit the same problem.

I swapped the inputs and still had the crackling via xbox.

The audio setting on the xbox one is set to 7.1 uncompressed HDMI.

Anyone experiencing this or have any ideas? I suspected the amp might be faulty but if other sources are ok it points the xbox.

I did read somewhere that some HDMI cables if duff exhibit issues when outputting 1080, not sure if this is true though?

    :)

  2. Xbox sound crackling issue FIXED!

so over the past few months I recently started experiencing crackling, popping and sound cutting in and out completely issues on my Xbox 1, tried all the troubleshooting steps the Xbox support could give me, I tried the clear persistent storage data and
Alternate Mac address but that did not work either, so i looked up what my tvs sound settimg should be instead, come to find out my outgoing audio signal was set to multi-channel instead of PCM, also come to find out somehow multiple bars in The Equalizer
we're not zeroed. After setting my audio out signal to PCM and zeroing all my equalizer bars the popping and crackling and cutting in and out has ceased. Hopefully this will be of help to somebody having the problem because it seems to be a prevalent one.

  3. Audio popping and crackling in headphones

Hello, by wireless devices do you mean devices that can connect to the internet? Sometimes I keep my phone and laptop near, but the popping happens whether or not they are near. This also doesn't explain why the jacks keep breaking eventually.

I would write down your audio settings then reset the receiver and set it up again. See if that helps. You could also try resetting the console by going to settings, system, console and updates and reset console then choose to keep everything. Your console
will reset taking you through a quick set up and you will have to sign in again. It might resolve the issue. Hope this helps. Good luck!

  5. thanks for the quick reply!

Unfortunately i have reset both xbox and amp just recently and no such luck in eradicating the issue.

will try another cable tonight, unlikely but worth a shot at least.

DTS reverting back to Uncompressed 7.1

I actually have to turn HDMI audio OFF completely and use stereo uncompressed under digital optical just to get my 5.1 surround sound to not "pop/crackle" when navigating menus/playing games. That "pop/crackling" was driving me nuts the system doesnt "pop/crackle"
when set to just TV but nor does my surround system "pop/crackle" when connected to my TV/Xbox 360. Never done that before...did MS cheap out on the audio system for their "all in one" media box or is this an isolated incident with my 2008 phillips surround
    I wonder.

    Audio crackles and pops

But Bucknut2006 if you are still having this problem and your surround receiver has an optical in port then try plugging an optic into your Xbox One and receiver. See if that alleviates the problem for now.

This is yet another issue that microsoft seem to be taking no notice of.
