Audio Crackling has made a return with the most recent update.

same issues as Flipsy. I was offline/traveling for work the past month. Got back home this weekend and my console updated (9/24/2017). Now I have sound glitches/crackles/echoes both in the home screen dashboard and all games that I've tried. Incredibly frustrating.
I do not have a complicated setup. HDMI cable fro XB1 to the tv, that's it.

Any word to a software patch in the works to fix?

Same (even same offline travel issue). For me it appears to be related to bitstream and plex app.

Same issue as everyone, I have tried different receivers, different xboxs,, different TV's., different headphones.... the problem exists on both my xboxs and it has for over 2 years now and the **** is driving me insane.

My Xbox has started doing this about. A month ago. Got a new official Xbox one hdmi lead and still does it. Runs through an amp to surround sound. Still does it if connected directly to the tv. Tv and surround soumd work fine with blu ray player, just problems
with the xbox one

I don't know about you guys, but the newest dashboard update seems to have solved the issue regarding the popping and crackling within the dashboard (at least for me). I didn't have enough time to test my XO thoroughly, so I don't know if that random crakling
and popping within games is gone as well, but at least the dashboard is fine (and I hope it stays that way).

I have the same problem, I'm not sure if it happened for me before the fall creators update but it could have been. I have my bitstream format set to Dolby digital and I can hear the crackling and popping when sounds come from the Xbox UI. If I set it to
DTS surround sound I don't hear the crackling but then the audio is off from the video and it's really distracting during movies. I mostly use my Xbox to play blurays.

Same problem, been looking for this thread.

Does not happen in chat.

Does not happen in VERY loud games.

Does not happen watching loud videos.

Only happens when:

1. Selecting a new tab anywhere on the Xbox dashboard that causes the audio clip to make a terrible crackling noise (EVEN AT LOW VOLUME)

2. Or simply scrolling through the selections on the guide.

Any Xbox OS sound is plagued with popping, and crackling, and it goes back as far as I can remember.

Using Astro A50 (Gen2, and Gen3)

Not only does it happen on BOTH sets...

It happens through HDMI on my Samsung8000S

Please give this problem proper attention, it is very much appreciated for audiophiles like ourselves in this thread.

Edit: The A50s were connected one at a time through Bitstream inputs, and the Gen3 no longer relies on a chat cable. Ruling out chat, or the controller as a possible issue.

Some of you won't believe this but I literally just hooked up my X Scorpio to the same setup my S had and i am experiencing the Popping/crackling when navigating menus on the Dashboard.

Onkyo TXRZ800

High Quality Cables all around my 5.1 setup

Nothing has change but i swapped my S for my X

I really notice the sound form my subwoofer.....very aggravating!!!

Unfortunately, audio still randomly pops and cracks in games. It doesn't seem to happen that frequently as it did before, but the problem is still present even after the fall dashboard update. The crackling within the dashboard is fixed though.

Hi,

I don't know if you ever managed to get your crackling sound to stop, but i read about Wifi interference, I to had the cracking poping also, so i turned wifi of and plugged in the cable instead, since then i have no crackling or pops !

In some cases, it may help, but I guess it's more complicated than that. I've already done turning of wi-fi, but to no effect. I heard the problem is caused by the way the Xbox One handles the audio. I've tried different settings, different hdmi cables,
different audio speakers, but the problem is still there.

Hi guys,

I had the same problem. Crackling sounds, occasional sound skipping.

Seems the problem occurs only when xbox is downloading or installing something, so when you pause all downloads and installing in Queue the problem instantly stops. Maybe the xbox just doesnt have the power the handle the multitasking.

So I think I may have found the issue/solution. I think it has something to do with running the Xbox sound through the ARC HDMI port on your tv. I changed my HDMI coming from my receiver to another HDMI input on my TV that is not ARC compatible and knock
on wood I think the problem is solved. Please let me know if this works for anybody else.

I've also had the same issue. It seems to be significantly worse with older xbox one games and games with smaller file sizes. I think for some instances at least it's due distortion from the game volume being too high. I was able to almost eliminate the
popping and hissing in The Swapper by turning the in game volume down to 70% and just turning it up through my receiver.

Would be nice if there was an option in the xbox OS settings to reduce the volume of the OS sounds

I'll try swapping HDMI ports to non-arc as well

Hello when I first got my launch Xbox One in 2013 I noticed that I'd get random pops and crackles through the audio when playing games.

It is most noticeable when editing video clips you have and when you save the clip the audio chime makes a nasty crackle when the clip is saved.

Anyway a replacement Xbox later and a few updates on the audio glitch seems to have gone. Until now. There is once again random pops and crackles when playing games. Not enough to ruin the experience, but it is there and can be distracting.

Any advice as to how to trouble shoot this? I have tried many different sound options in settings and done hard resets but t no avail.

Goto settings goto video and sound. Goto Godeo fidelity and overscan. Choose 30 bits per pixel (10bit). It solved my issues

I had an Xbox One and it did this! ..now just a few days ago I got an Xbox One S and IT STILL DOES IT! ...I can't believe the Xbox team has not patched this glitch! after all this time.

I tried everything I could with the settings, even swapped for new batteries, all to no effect.

Here I have same problem, crackling audio specially when I'm navigating through the menus and it was worse after the Creators Update.

same problem, buggy sound, behaves very much like windows, you have ruined this console with silly updates that actually make it worse. The other day a had frozen sound very loud annoying thing. Crackling is standard on this console. Laggish and buggy console
overall you guys need to do some work on it and to be honest from what I seen on win10 updates and this console myself we can just dream about a fix! You should learn from Apple! Very dissapointed!

Hey all, sounds like the common trend here is a soundbar from what I can tell off the bat.

If you go into Settings > Display & sound > Audio output. What are your settings for HDMI and Optical audio if you're using that option. Does changing these settings help with this audio issue?
