Audio Crackling has made a return with the most recent update.

So happy I found this thread. I'm using a pair of Astro A50's through the optical port, set correctly to Bitstream Out and Dolby Digital. Never had any problems until the latest couple of updates (Starting with the major 'Cortana' release)

In game audio seems to be working correctly but any interaction with the dashboard/Home screen and the crackling,popping starts. Any of the Xbox One chimes and sound effects have a horrible distortion for some reason. I'm not in the preview programme, currently
running the standard software. Tested this on 2 Xbox One consoles in my home and the issue is the same. Connected my headset to other optical devices in home and they sound perfect.

I'm almost certain it's a software issue as I've tested every other possibility, even changing optical cables. Please help me lol, diving me mental.

When I use my gamepad with earphones plugged in ( tried 3 different pairs. so it's not them ) the sound crackles and pops when I interact with the navigation tiles.

I had an Xbox One and it did this! ..now just a few days ago I got an Xbox One S and IT STILL DOES IT! ...I can't believe the Xbox team has not patched this glitch! after all this time.

I tried everything I could with the settings, even swapped for new batteries, all to no effect.

 

Here I have same problem, crackling audio specially when I'm navigating through the menus and it was worse after the Creators Update.

 

same problem, buggy sound, behaves very much like windows, you have ruined this console with silly updates that actually make it worse. The other day a had frozen sound very loud annoying thing. Crackling is standard on this console. Laggish and buggy console
overall you guys need to do some work on it and to be honest from what I seen on win10 updates and this console myself we can just dream about a fix! You should learn from Apple! Very dissapointed!

 

Same problem, no soundbar and happens with Home Theatre, Headset or my crappy tv speakers.

Windows 10 also has the same issue, when navigating the desktop so its not new and its not soundbars, thats ridiculous.

This is a microsoft problem.

 

I have the same problem. When I close an application its almost like the sound duplicates itself. When Im playing games I can notice a little bit without headset, but with headset its impossible to play. It doesn't happen when I am watching netflix or other
movie applications. Please fix this problem.

 

Same problem, been looking for this thread.

Does not happen in chat.

Does not happen in VERY loud games.

Does not happen watching loud videos.

Only happens when:

1. Selecting a new tab anywhere on the Xbox dashboard that causes the audio clip to make a terrible crackling noise (EVEN AT LOW VOLUME)

2. Or simply scrolling through the selections on the guide.

Any Xbox OS sound is plagued with popping, and crackling, and it goes back as far as I can remember.

Using Astro A50 (Gen2, and Gen3)

Not only does it happen on BOTH sets...

It happens through HDMI on my Samsung8000S

Please give this problem proper attention, it is very much appreciated for audiophiles like ourselves in this thread.

Edit: The A50s were connected one at a time through Bitstream inputs, and the Gen3 no longer relies on a chat cable. Ruling out chat, or the controller as a possible issue.

 

I have almost the same problem only backwards.

It actually happends with everything.

Except that I can't even listen any of my friends but they listen to me. The audio cracks every second with absolutely everything, from game, videos, chat, the interface, everything. My controller is brand new, only 3 weeks since I bought it. My headphones
in excellent condition. But it has something to do with the controllers conection or something because when the audio is proyected from thw TV it doesnt cracks at all. I tried restarting console, restarting controller and even plugging my headset to a different
device and everything works.

This it the 3 time this has happend to me and its Extremely Annoying.

 

Same problem here. It happens through HDMI and headphones. Unfortunately, MS doesn't seem to care enough. The latest system update I downloaded yesterday changes nothing, and the issue still persists. My Xbox One is still under warranty, but I really don't
want to return it as it is a Halo 5 limited one (as far as I'm aware, this edition is completely sold out in my country). And I wouldn't want to find out that the new Xbox suffers from the exact same issues. I believe this problem must be software related.
We need MS to look into it, and deliver a fix. XO is great, but this is very annoying, and therefore I can't enjoy it as much as I want. In comparison, my Xbox 360 is almost seven years old, and still alive and kicking.

 

I've got the same problem. Hard reboots, messing with audio settings, and nothing seems to work.

 

Yep, same problem here. I've been playing Destiny 2 and I never hear any static while playing but as soon as I go to the dashboard I hear awful static, crackling, popping ect. Both through my headset and my TV speakers.

 

I too have the crackling popping sound with my headset. I've tried everything under the sun to fix this issue. Its not the headset as they sound perfect through my phone and tablet. The home menu screen sounds incredibly fuzzy distortion sound when scrolling.
I've been playing Destiny 2 and at times it's unbearable.

 

same issues as Flipsy. I was offline/traveling for work the past month. Got back home this weekend and my console updated (9/24/2017). Now I have sound glitches/crackles/echoes both in the home screen dashboard and all games that I've tried. Incredibly frustrating.
I do not have a complicated setup. HDMI cable fro XB1 to the tv, that's it.

Any word to a software patch in the works to fix?

 

BUMP. This is still an ongoing issue. We need some statement from the developers on this matter. It's driving me nuts tbh.

 

Same (even same offline travel issue). For me it appears to be related to bitstream and plex app.
