Audio Crackling has made a return with the most recent update.

I just upgraded to the xbox one s on launch day. I have had audio issues where the sound goes silent for a couple seconds then comes back. It happens intermittently and on any media such as games, 4k discs, YouTube and streaming netflix and hulu. I have
tried another HDMI cable and all HDMI ports on my tv. I have swapped out my xbox one s at the store and have the same issues with the other one.

XB1 headset audio crackling and cutting out.

I have gone through three different headsets with my third purchase being an hour before writing this, I am having audio issues with a crackling and static sound during game volume, as well as audio dropping out. My Xbox also quit responding to my elite
controller and had to be reset all of this has started after the recent update.

 

Dolby Digital Issue

They must have fixed some of the initial audio problems with DTS from launch. When i first got the console at launch, i set it to DTS and would experience a similar audio issue when watching tv. The crackling wasnt subtle though.

Since switching back to DTS, I havent had this issue so it looks like they fixed this in the recent updates since launch.

Hi Mister Mascot - thanks for the link but that doesn't address the issue the OP listed here - crackling in the headset. Is there anyway to manually troubleshoot this or are we just waiting for an update?

 

Bump.... I am also having the same crackling issues on the dashboard especially when I make a selection on a tile and then go back to the previous screen it's most noticeable then.

 

I have the same issue as fugettaboutit77.

On an Xbox One S, using the official MS HDMI cable connected to a brand new 2016 4K LG TV (all ports support 4K HDMI2.0/HDCP2.2), the audio CUTS OUT for a second or 2 then comes right back.

- This only happens when I select 4K resolution on the Xbox One S.

- If I try a different cable, the sound cut out still happens.

- If I connect to a soundbar using an optical cable the audio cut out still happens.

- If I take it back down to 1080p, the audio cut out doesn't happen.

Thus, with myself and fugettaboutit77 both reporting this, the Xbox One S itself is the culprit and this is an official issue.

happens once every half hour or hour or something, almost like a signal is cycling or something...

this is gonna have to be fixed. I won't put up with it. $400 unit where the sound cuts out...Nonsense.

 

My set up is Audio through HDMI to the TV then a pass through to a soundbar. But it still crackles even when sound is just played through the TV.

 

My xbox is the standard launch console as well.

 

Hey all, sounds like the common trend here is a soundbar from what I can tell off the bat.

If you go into Settings > Display & sound > Audio output. What are your settings for HDMI and Optical audio if you're using that option. Does changing these settings help with this audio issue?

I do not have a soundbar. I do have a receiver but have turned off external speakers and even used the internal tv speaker and it happens. It only happens when using the xbox one s. I have called LG and their only solution is to turn off Deep Color on my
HDMI port which actually disables the HDR feature which is part of the reason I wanted the tv. I told them this is an unacceptable answer. I saw a post from someone stating that they called LG and went into LG remote service and changed the EDID Type to AC3
and he claims it resolved his audio issue he was having with surround sound. I was hoping it would also resolve the sound cutting out problem I have been experiencing as well as ChomskyKnows. When going into LG remote service it states that you need to connected
to the internet which I am and call LG customer service which it list the phone number then provide an authorization code to them. When I called them they said they cannot do that and keep referring me to authorized service companies that only are available
M-F 8-5 which does not help if that is the same schedule I work. Completely frustrated and useless. Sounds to me like Microsoft needs a software patch. Other people are reporting issues even with other brand televisions.

 

The Xbox One S as well as my LG UH8500 4k tv both had updates yesterday 8/22/16. since the updates I have not noticed trouble with the audio anymore. It seems the updates resolved the issue. I still have the HDR turning back on when exiting HDR video though
but that is not as big a deal as the audio. You may want to check settings on your xbox and update your system and check your televisions as this has resolved the audio cutting out for me.

 

it is bizarre that I have the exact same setup as you (Xbox One S and LG UH8500 - technically mine is the 65" - you might have a bigger or smaller set) but I have not have not received updates to either the Xbox One S or the LG recently...Both are on auto-update
and I'm in the preview program. You might be in a quicker preview ring....

I have tried it without a soundbar and also just through my TV (no external speakers) and there is still random crackling Audio.

 

I've had this issue since the NXE with my headset. Happens on official headset and third party. 2 different controllers. Got replacement xbox. Still an issue. Not wifi interference.
