you cannot rip from a flash drive. You must rip it from a cd. make sure that you format it as a audio cd.

Ripping CDs to your collection



1. With the Zune software open, put an audio CD into your CD drive. When the CD icon appears, click it to display a list of songs.



2. Clear the check box next to any song that you don't want to rip.



3. Click Start rip.



If you put CDs into multiple CD drives on your computer, the additional CDs appear in the upper-left corner of the CD view. Click the CD you want to rip.



Adjusting audio quality for ripped music



You can adjust the compression quality used during ripping to balance between quality and file size. If you're not sure which settings to use, try ripping with different formats and bit rates, and then play the files. To do this:



1. From your Zune software, click Settings at the top of your screen, click Software in the upper-left corner of the screen, and then click Rip in the list at the left.



2. Make your selections on the Audio format and Audio quality menus.

You can still rip CD's

Are you trying to rip a CD you bought or a CD you burned on the PC?

There are a few store bought CD's that will prevent any type of ripping...but i've only came across 1 before.

If you are using a CD you burned, did you burn this as an Audio Disc or as a Data Disc?

Data Disc will never work...so if you filled a disc with 700mb of MP3's, you wont be able to rip it. If you created a 70-80 minute audio disc, you should have no issues ripping.

I recently ripped 6 albums to my XBOX and they were all store bought albums but I did rip a few to a CD-RW because I dont like how the bonus tracks from a disc 2 will not be grouped to the original album.

Yeah that's true and you can, but since my computer is buggered ATM it's not an option, and they still should have the option to so so..

I stream the music on my computer through the xbox, has my whole music library on it and takes up no room on the hdd. You can set it up using the windos media centre, no need for ripping if you have the music files on computer. Not sure if you can play the
music that way while playing a game though, never tried it myself.
